Engine started making bad noises this week after 58K miles of hard freeway commuting. Drained the oil and found lots of metal. Boo.

Think I'm going to just off load this bike and look for another one. Don't really want to deal with parting it out piece by piece and would rather sell as a complete bike. Any idea what it might be worth? It's never been down, clean title, normal wear and tear for a bike with nearly 60k miles.

Honestly you won't get much, Ive seen complete motor less bikes go for 1000. Ive never seen one go for more than 1500 so figure somewhere in between that. Now if you part it out you can expect around 3000.

Why don't you put the word out at a few Buell dealerships. The mechanics who work on bikes always look for project bikes to make a few bux on

Hammer my man, thank you for the info. I think you just convinced me to part it out.

Just know that parting it out is a pretty colossal PITA. I did it with a KLR-250, and only had to make $400 or so on the whole bike (minus head) to come out ahead. I'm not sure I even broke even in terms of cost (after listing and shipping and deadbeats not paying). And it was actually a LOT of work to tear it down and package it up.

I'm not saying don't part it out, I'm just warning that you will have to work at it.

Why not just get a new motor? I have seen bikes going for like 3 grand, that have been in some crunches. Look for one where the motor is good and everything else is pooched. You can probably just dump a new lump into it, because it's titled to the frame.
