I was riding home from work the other day and when I got home I noticed that there was oil spilled on the swingarm and there was an oil weep on top of the gear cover. I was sitting in traffic for a while on a hot summer day, but it wasn't hot enough for the fan to come on yet, after clearing the traffic I was driving very fast on the highway. Can somebody explain where this oil leak comes from? Do I have gaskets that require replacing or does this happen when you drive a Buell very fast on a hot day?

First thought- starter gasket. Were it me, I might consider living with a gasket that was 'sweating', and leave replacement for winter.

Aside from the other two responses that could prove correct, the other choice might be broken transmission vent hose which is also right in the same area as the other two possible problems.

The oil is only at the back. Thanks for the suggestions, I will look around again with a small mirror to see if I can find anything.

good lookin wear on that rear tire, btw! Looks like you've maxed out the lean angle more than once. Hope you get it sorted out. I'm putting off a rear rocker-box leak as long as I can.

Five pix of an oil drip and someone manages to notice the chicken strips, or lack thereof.

Pretty much describes the mindset here, I'll tell ya. BTW, This is kind of like an EVO. Taking off hard on a cold engine sometimes will cause that to happen. Always give it a few minutes to warm up.

yeah... I can't help it. Every time I cruise thru bike-nite I spend the whole time looking at rear tires on sport bikes. Lets you know who is either

a.) a new rider
b.) only rides cause they think it makes them look cool
c.) really loves to ride
