Has anyone ever had an idling issue that just corrected itself? My 07 12R (just rolled over 15K) always had a tendency to idle @ around 1700 - 2000 once hot. Nice that it took away the vibration but too high to be normal. I always chalked it up to needing a TPS reset and didnt want to mess with the idle adj. since it idled just fine upon initial start-up. But the last few times I've been out on her she has just decided to start idling right at 1000 rpm like it should. Ive even stalled it twice as a result of not being used to this. It may be awhile before I can find out if this is the new norm seeing as how my clutch cable stay has fully broken and the cable now rests on the front header. A.S.B has the better ones but I cant figure out what cheap part to get to make a $20 order. grrrrrrr...........

You can always use an extra oil filter, always. If the cable is touching the header, I bet you need a cable too.

an extra oil filter? not sure I understand. the cable appears undamaged save for the little ribbed rubber shroud thats a bit melted at the top. I'll replace the whole cable eventually but for the time being I'm just gonna throw a new cable stay on there, maybe even get one of those heat reflecting sleeves that DEI makes

The extra oil filter adds to the minimum purchase requirement.

The little rubber shroud is extremely important, this is the part the keeps water from entering the transmission and polluting the gearbox oil. If it is melted, you should really get a new one and I don't think you can buy it separately from the cable.

On the bikes up to your vintage, the idle is controlled by an old-fashioned screw stop like in a carb.
There is a cable leading away from the throttle body that ends in a small plastic knob.
If you change the idle speed, you don't have to do anything with the TPS.

fwiw, leakage at the throttle body manifold to head joint will do that.

Most true. I did not want to be a motochondriac and start fretting over if it could be vacuum leakage in the TB. I suppose I'll worry about it when it affects rideability. Thanks for the insight.
