Not sure if you need an MO subscription or not to access the full text of the article. If so, here's the net/net of their opinion on the XB9SX:

Regardless of how you feel about the see-through tank and fly screen looking like an iMac or the motor being a "9" instead of a "12", the 2005 Buell XB9SX is easily the best streetbike Buell has ever built. Argue all you want, but after riding all of the Buells back-to-back, it is obvious that the 9SX hits a sweet spot.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet.

Got to see one tonight,...interesting. Like the color, would like to see it outside in the sunlight. as for the over-all bike, I guess you have to ride it?

"...the XB9 Buells are more pleasant to ride than the XB12 series, because of lower vibration, smoother power delivery, less heat generation, smoother shifting and a wider useable rev range..."

ya know, everyone bemoaned the 9's when they came out and wanted more power. Now we've got 12's and the 9's are coming into vogue & getting their props.

It has potential... I can't imagine all the color combos you can get dying the tranparent panels, or painting the underside of them....
