HI, I haven't been on in a while. I have a KBC/Buell helmet that got scuffed on a ride while strapped to my seat. The graphics are scuffed through to the shell but the structural integrity of the helmet is ok. No impact, it's just from rubbing and is a small blemish, about the size of a quarter. I want to remove the factory graphics and repaint the helmet. I appears to me that these are the plastic, vacuform type of graphics. If that's so, can they be peeled off? Does anyone have any experience with removing these graphics? If I can remove the graphics layer it will save a lot of scuff sanding and reduce the prep time drasticly. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll probably have to sand them off, as they would have been laquered over once applied. Peeling them off would be almost impossible even with some heat applied.

If the helmet is plastic (ABS) then you would be better off throwing it away and replacing even for a scuff, as they don't rub down or paint very well and some react to paint. Glassfibre or carbon composite are OK to rub down and repaint though.

Brake fluid would break down the lacquer and make it easier to remove the graphics.

It might be easier to find a plain black helmet to sand and paint on. You can probably pick one up for around $100.
