I've been hearing a buzzy noise from the fairing on my '04 Firebolt that was hard to locate until today. The left headlight is loose and rattling. The entire assembly is loose in the fairing and vibrating around. It looks like all the adjusters are intact and I haven't pulled it apart yet. Any advice or experience with similar problems? If it's a common thing, I'd rather order parts, then take it apart when I have them. Thanks for any help. | ||

The top part of the headlight bracket mounts with the ECM. The bottom bolts slid into some grooves and can be a pain to get tightened. It's 10mm if I am not mistaken. | ||

mine is doing the same but it is the ball socket adjuster part of the mount.. havent come up with a fix yet though ... | ||

I think that is what mine is doing also. From inspecting it without taking anything apart, it looks like everything is where it should be and the sockets are worn out. I think to get the whole thing out, I will have to remove the fairing. If I find a replacement or fix, I'll post it. | ||

Removing the fairing and removing the mount are pretty easy. Mirrors and turn signals come off and two screws at the base of the windshield and pull forward. Two screws that hold the ECM, then the two on the sides of the mount get loosened, do not remove the side bolts. Slide forward and disconnect the wiring harness and cable mount. It's really easy after you do it once. | ||

Once loose it will vibrate looser and losser. I used a couple of strategic zipties to put pressure on the ball again to stop the vibes and erosin of the cup. | ||

I did RTV and zip ties to keep mine tight, been on there for years. | ||

I had the same problem and tried the zip tie thing but that didn't last long. A new headlight bracket is 30 something bucks, so it is not that expensive to fix. Better get one before HD stops stocking them. | ||

Thanks for the great info, I thought it looked like the white sockets are just worn out. I was going to take them out and see if there are any automotive type parts that will match up. The Carquest that delivers to the shop I work at has some pretty resourceful folks there. |
