Alright guys i'm new here and to be honest not a mechanical genius :P so here is my predicament. My XB12 recently fouled its spark plugs which I replaced. Well after a single 20 mile ride, they were fouled again... All of this happened after I switched the stock exhaust to a Jardine Gp-1. This has me perplexed and the only reason I could think for this is that the fuel mixture is too enriched? Would that be an ECM problem? Thanks for any and all help guys!!!

It's highly unlikely that it would be too enriched after putting a free flowing exhaust on it.

You would need to check the afv, that would tell you if it is running rich or lean.

Here are some tips to prevent fouling.
1. When you start the bike let it warm up completely before taking off.
2. Don't rev or blip the throttle while the bike is warming.
3. Don't start and stop the bike repeatedly.

How often have you been riding it before you put the exhaust on?

How much has the temperature dropped up there lately?

Plug also fouls if you do city riding - taking short trips. killing engine, restarting frequently.

Not that I am proud of it but I got 28,000 miles out of a set of plugs. BTW I have never touched the throttle upon start up or until the bike has fully run for no less than 5 minutes. And the 5 minute warm up applies to Summertime in Oklahoma.

IMHO plugs DO NOT foul from city riding. Maybe parade riding but not city. Well at least not on my 2005/33,000 mile bike

Well I put the new exhaust on after about 2,000 miles and it currently has 4,500 on it. I do always let it warm up for at least five minutes before any ride, but to answer about the temperature, in the past few weeks here in Ohio we've had everything from mid 70's to low 30's and it keeps going up and down.

You might want to look into getting ECMSpy cable and software. If you could find out your AFV that would tell us/you a lot.

I ride in DC in rush hour every day and have never fouled a plug on the Buell or anything else. If plugs are fouling on a four stroke something is seriously wrong with either the mixture or the spark. Bad wires/coils can give a weak spark and then plugs will foul easily.

It could also be burning oil from bad valve stem seals.

Or the engine temp sensor is wonky telling bike it is cold and adding a ton of fuel.
