I am a triumph daytona 675 rider and happened to be talking to a guy at one of our stores who mentioned he had just wrecked his first bike after having it for less than a month. Been talking to him and turns out it is a little buell xb9r. someone told the poor kid not to use the front brake so he was using the rear brake all the time. he made an emergency stop with only the rear and lowsided it. The damages consist of:

both pegs broken
broken clip ons/handles
broken turn signal
broken front brake lever
rashed exhaust (deep but not through metal) i dont know if you can patch over it
slightly rashed front fairing-i heard the bracket is magnesium and expensive. it's tweaked but not bad at all.

its been sitting for about a month. It didnt run that well but seemed to do better after it was warmed up. Definitely felt slow to drop on the revs. not sure if that is related to the throttle cable being bent down with the handlebar or what.

Bike has 7500 miles on it. I offered him $1000. Any thoughts, suggestions etc?

oh and fyi, sitting on it, giving it a little rev was amazing, made my bike feel puny!

If you can get that for a grand, go for it. The fairing bracket is magnesium, but only $120 brand new. Handlebar, footpeg, turn signal is about $50 combined. Another stock lever is around $30. You can sand the scuff out of the plastic, but there isn't much you can do about the header short of wraping it, ceramic coating, or just living with it.

Looks like a beautiful 2003, and worth picking up. Just an FYI, the muffler on it is whats known as the Buell Race Muffler (can't get anymore), and it is running the lower Lightning footpegs, not the stock Firebolt footpegs.

I'd say it's worth a lot more than the $1k you offered, even wrecked.

For $1K, I'd fly to TN with parts in my carry-on and ride back to CA!

I'm building a "B" bike one piece at a time.

good deal, shouldn't take much to get it back in action.

I honestly thought the front bracket was aluminum, but that explains some adhesion issues I've had lol

Don't use the front brake? WTF?

$1000 is a good deal. The exhaust, ECM (assuming it is the Race also) and a few other choice items on the bike are probably worth a G. To be able to have a roadworthy bike for a few hundred extra bucks on top of that is a gift. I wish I could find deals like that.

I'd have to agree with Slaughter, even if you get the bike for 1500$ that's a steal. I'd pick it up in a heartbeat if I were you and talk to Al over at American Sports Bike.

Yeap that looks to have the race pipe on it, silver in color. I started my like for the XB series motorcycles with the XB9R and really enjoyed it. The oil pump drive gear failed on mine though. On 2 other XB12 cycles the crank shaft/connecting rod bearings have failed. All issues are known Buell problems.

The race exhaust and race ecm could resell for $500 easy.

Someone call the cops, because you stole that! : )

American Sport Bike has most of what you need. Be sure to pick up a set of Frame Pucks, they are like bumpers to prevent the frame from denting in a tipover.

I would run 20w50 in the summer and 10w40 in the cold months. I'm not going to get into brand wars.

Post up your wanted-parts on Badweb Classifieds section. IF you get some parts, often the prices here are better than you'd do on EBay.
