Checking over my bike I noticed this black wire coming out of the fuel pump was not in the connector. Now my bike ran fine, no check engine lights, never gave me any issues. I fixed it but just wondering what the hell it does. and what damage I could have caused by running without it. I figure it cant be a ground because I would have noticed other problems right? The black wire is a ground connection for the pump assembly but the only thing that actually needs this is the low fuel sensor. The pump has power and control supplied via two other wires in that loom. The pump body will probably get a half decent ground connection through the frame via the mounting screws and the body of the pump so the ground wire being disconnected will probably go under the radar. |
