Thanks guys.

Now I know there have been a lot of threads on this, but a friend of mine just got the d&d. That sh*t is loud as hell and the drummer does not have anything close to the noise.

Have any of you experience both the drummer and the d&d? Which do you like better? Also thinking about the Gangsta exhaust, but I don't know if I will like that, it looks like it came off the back of a civic.

I'll tell you what,It has dependabilty, the D&D's have been cracking. It perform's smooth and a touch better in all the right places. And any questions you might have about the Drummer can be answered by Kevin or Bubba right here on the BadWeb on any given day.Not by the several middle men, trying to get your problems fixed or answered. What you can remember though is Kevin and Bubba love BUELLS not Honda Yamaha,Suzuki,OH and BUELL.

I'm in a fix myself - I want something that will make people say " That Sh*t Is Loud As Hell!!" , but I don't want to buy a pipe that (as it seems from reading about them here) will definitely break. Th hp difference is not a major deal to me, these bikes are more about show than go. Why doesn't D&D FIX the design? It bugs me . . .

Add me to the list of perfectly happey Drummer owners. I don't have a sound clip but unless you are looking for the loudest most obnoxious pipe that will destroy your hearing, get the Drummer. It has awesome sound and performance to match.

I hope you mean in your opinion.

Kevin & Bubba, I've read a few posts that want your pipe but don't feel it's loud enough, and they're not worried about what it does to their dyno numbers. Maybe ya'll could come up with a DrummerII.
My guess is the lower rpms would suffer but may gain upper. Expand the product line?
Maybe the Draggin'Drummer?
I see a market. I'm probably just sayin' out loud what ya'll have already thought of.

How could I mean anything other than "in my opinion" what am I God or something? It goes without saying that almost everything said here is simply someone's opinion. To support that opinion however I see the dough they put into a cuell frame, swingarm, pipe location, front brake and just general R&D, but it remains a sub 100 horse motor at the wheel, which in today's market does not qualify as a lot of "go". They focused on making an inventive, well handling machine, but a speed demon it is not (IMO of course)
Some people seem real touchy around here when anyone says they want more power - there were even references to "stop whining like a bunch of girls". Since when is wanting more power a girly thing? Haven't guys since the invention of the motor wanted more power? It's like people get offended if we say the XB is down on power compared to it's similarly displaced counterparts from the Italy and Japan. That's not even opinion that it's down on power. I still bought one, it's my favorite bike in the world right now, but it's kind of anemic (IMO) for a 1200cc bike.

Being that a pipe is not going to bridge that gap and give me a significant power increase, I want to further the "show" side of the bike and get a pipe that is a real head turner, and emphasizes the big twin sound. I like the idea of a "Bass Drummer", or maybe the "Bonham" for people who wants a little more boom -

That my friend is a fact. Though it's all relative.
That being said, one of the things that drew me to the bike was that hot rodder in me. I've never left well enough alone.

Just an FYI on the D&D.

I spoke to their Tech department yesteday. Before they send me a replacement pipe, they are reinforcing the bottom plate to take care of the cracking.
I should have the pipe by the end of next week.

They are addressing the bottom plates cracking, if you got any questions I would give their tech department a buzz. Their guys are very friendly and knowledgeable.

I'm in agreement with Glitch. I'm LazyMe's friend that got the D&D. I got it cause I like the sound, not so much the performance. I just don't think the performance difference between the two would be that much of a difference to me. I'm sure you can feel the difference though. I also didn't have a stock can to send them, so I was figuring it would end up costing me about $450 all said and done. I probably would have gotten the Drummer if it was louder. If the D&D lasts me a year or so, fine....maybe by then they'll have made a louder Drummer. Broken exhausts are a good excuse to upgrade or just change up the feel of the bike...even if it is just a minor change. Hopefully then I can be down with the Drummer crew!: )

ok I been gone all day let me say a few things.

first I just paypaled the money so we are now sponsors of the bad web.

second to my buddy dyna, yes I own a triumph right now, I have owned 3 buells the last being my 9R. did I switch loyalty's, Nope, I switched a style of bike. does Buell make a cafe racer that looks like the early 60's cafe bikes, nope. Thats what I wanted thats what I got. If I was still in the mood for a sportbike the xb is my only choice.

third...I understand what is being said about louder pipes. Well the Drummer ain't really quiet by any stretch but IMHO, the tonal value is better. Plus the way the drummer is made it will never be as loud as a pipe that is a 1 into 2 pipe that is 2" in diameter. Plus there is already D&D, and the HSA pipe, and the TI-FORCE pipe that have that construction. we won't go that way. and me and kevin are pretty died in the wool that is is always function over form, even if the increases are just a lil better, well that is just that much better, right? So I don't really see us expanding the drummer pipes just for the sake of loudness unless we get more performance. we have already expanded by doing triumphs, and susuki's and we almost had a guy ready to pony up his honda I think but that fell thru.

But never say never right?

anyway in time who knows where we may end up, we are always thinkin about doing different stuff. But when we first devloped the drummer I was pretty specific what kinda sound I hoped we would get, and I am real tired of just blatant loud pipes. working in service with those friggin harley's all day with their loud pipes had gotten on my nerves.

but to everyone that likes the drummer the way it is......thanks for your support. we really appreciate it.

I'm on Bubba's side here. If I had an XB I'd have a drummmer. It sounds great, not too loud but plenty of authority.

I rode a new 04 sportster to Lambeau field last weekend with the rest of the Uke's crew and I couldn't hear the damded bike and it had no tach! So I had no idea where the engine was in the powerband half the time.

The Vance and Hines on my S3T is plenty loud. In fact it's a little too loud for my newborn daughter when I start the bike and warm it up at 3:30am before I ride to work. The Drummer on the other hand sound like a bike with some balls, but it won't wake every family withing two blocks either, while the D&D sure will!

I want the added performance as well. Give me a few more horsepower, he11... Give me a LOT more horsepower!

The Drummer rocks. It looks good, sounds good, performs and has been very reliable. What else do you want?

JT

I have not heard the drummer up close and personal, but the sound clip I am sure does not do its justice. The way people are talking about this pipe and the way it sounds in this clip don't match up.

The Drummer sound clip still lives on his old website at www.patmedia.net/haynesfam. Just go to the drummer page. You may have to wait a bit for it to download.
