I'm going Saturday to pick up my XB9SX. Just upgraded from a Blast. If I get a Spec Ops pipe and K&N air filter will I need to remap the ECM or should it run fine without remapping. I also plan on doing the white wire mod.

You should run a Race ECM regardless of what exhaust you have, even stock, it makes that much of an improvement.

Honestly I wouldn't even bother with changing the muffler.

The white wire mod doesn't do much on the year bike you have. It can be done with ECMSpy, no need to actually pull the wire from the connector.

Oh my, the magical white wire mod has resurfaced...

All you are doing is disconnecting the VSS, and not allowing your computer to make adjustments as it needs to. Don't pull that wire, all of the US riders that do and say "ooooooo there was a very noticable increase in power" are full of BS and haven't got a clue.

If your bike is a EU bike, different story. US bike, don't bother.

so far I'm loving this bike. It makes the blast feel like a toy. The fan is super loud though.

Make sure you safety wire the jardine endcap to something else. When it blows apart, you'll want to keep it away from your rear tire.

The Blast is an awesome bike, especially once you open it up a bit. I still need to get a better exhaust, but intake tweaks & rejetting improved it massively.

That said, the XB9SX is a much more capable bike. I think it lack some of the "stupid fun" that the Blast has, but it's definitely a better motorcycle. : )

You may want to consider doing the dual headlight mod. This is a bit of rewiring magic that lets the low run constantly, even with the high beam on. It improves visibility, and improves people not telling you, "Hey, one of your headlights is out!"

You also probably want to add an XBLights tail light to it if you ride in traffic. They're about a gazillion times brighter and more visible than the stock light, and if you get the optional flasher modules (HIGHLY recommended), it makes a very significant difference in tailgaters/people closing quickly/etc. Probably the best safety mod I've made yet.

I have a Jardine on the Blast and its got 13k miles with no signs of needing a repack or the rivets going and the vibrations on it are a hell of a lot worse than the XB9SX. I have read on here quite a bit though about durability issues on the bigger bikes.

I have my Blast opened up as much as possible. I have an M2 velocity stack with an Outerwears filter the Jardine pipe and rejetted 48/180 and shimmed the needle. I have to agree on the "stupid fun" factor.
