I wanted to have a usable spare in the event of a failure. I carry the spare with me all of the time. My current belt has 19K miles and looks as good as the day it was installed. Oh wait a minute. I have heard of people placing it in the air box cover, around the back of the inner air box. That should work pretty well. Stuffing it in the air box? Maybe. It would probably hurt performance some and I would think would likely damage the belt. The the good one breaks I suppose a sketchy one is a lot better than none. Personally I'd stuff it under the seat.
