For the lifetime of the belt. That's all I've been able to figure out. |

If you pop wheelies and jerk(burnouts) your drivetrain around a lot and power wash your bike or subject it to harsh weather(cold and wet) probably 10-15 thousand miles at most. I have 31,000 on mine btw. |

Pushing 30k on mine when I sold it, and it looked perfect. No doubt influenced by the fact that I got a spare used belt early on and had it hanging on a shelf the whole time I owned the bike. |

I replaced mine at around 15K miles preemptively. I wanted to have a usable spare in the event of a failure. I carry the spare with me all of the time. My current belt has 19K miles and looks as good as the day it was installed. Oh wait a minute. Did I just jinx myself? |

Nobuell, I'm just curious... How do you carry it all the time? |

Mine is getting replaced this winter. I would like to carry the old one as a spare all the time. I have heard of people placing it in the air box cover, around the back of the inner air box. I will have to see. |

I have it in a plastic bag that I keep it in the side case along with my electric air pump. The belt has not broke yet but I am going to Slimey Crud Sunday. There is still time this year. |

Oh, you have side cases. That should work pretty well. Stuffing it in the air box? Maybe. It would probably hurt performance some and I would think would likely damage the belt. The the good one breaks I suppose a sketchy one is a lot better than none. (Message edited by SIFO on September 30, 2011) |

I don't see how it can be damaged any worse than flexed multiple times in both directions hundreds of times a minute. Personally I'd stuff it under the seat. |
