Anyone have a black chin fairing they'd be willing to part with? I need all three pieces...right, left, and center. Mine fell off with my race can. | ||

Just out of curiosity how did that happen? Those strap clamps look like they keep the pipe pretty secure. I'm just asking, cause I am going to be installing a Drummer soon and I don't want to lose my pipe. Semper Fi Tatsu | ||

My front clamp broke...just snapped in half. I rode anyway figuring it would hold. Then a few days later one of the back clamp snapped. I got a BS clamp from Home Depot and put it on the front and set out for a 200 mile ride on the 4th, Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando. The Home Depot clamp broke on the way. We got up to Orlando, partied and left to head back late night on the 4th. About 30 miles after we left, the last clamp broke. I didn't know the muffler wasn't bolted on, so we turned around to head back. Half way back the can fell off...right outside of downtown Orlando (I-4 and Conroy). I pulled over to run back and grab it and some jerk ran it over. Oh well, got a D&D now. So everyone out there should take my advice and remember... EXHAUST CLAMPS ARE IMPORTANT!!! | ||

u have seen the pics of dudes busted D&D right? mines cracking in just about the same place as his started id beef up that front support bracket if u know how to weld | ||

I'd like to just cut that piece off and all the other pieces that are there to mount the chin fairing. Naked with nothing but pipes would look awesome. | ||

Man that sucks. I think I'm going to start pre-flighting my bike, instead of jumping on a going. The only mount that broke was on my M2 with the Force Pipe. I wonder if the O4 clamp system is different? I haven't notice any problems and have about 5.7K miles on the bike. I better look. Semper Fi Tatsu | ||

The clamp that came with the D&D is extra beefy. Much stronger than any of the stock clamps. | ||

Dave -- just curious -- who installed your race kit, you or the dealer? My dealer did mine (in the interest of allowing me to preserve my warranty, so long as I go to them for any engine related problems  ). Although the instructions clearly state that you must install new straps and Torca clamp, they reused the old ones. I asked them about this "oversight" and they told me they never install new pieces and have never had one break. If your dealer installed the kit, I'd take it back and ask why they didn't use new pieces -- if they say they did, then they should warranty the entire job. Or... maybe I'm missin' something here... | ||

I'm wary of the torque figures stated by the FM for the clamps - seems way too high to me. When I fitted my Drummer there was no way I could make myself torque those nuts up to what was asked. The clamp assembly works a lot like a worm gear drive (torque multiplier), so the nuts on the clamps don't need to be anywhere near as tight as the nuts holding on the idler pulley for example. That's how I see it anyways... | ||

The kit was on the bike when I got it. I was thinking about trying to start some •••• about it, but it's not worth it. I shouldn't have been riding it without all the clamps anyway. I don't think they use beefy enough clamps. LazyMe21 has had clamps break also. Too bad he didn't lose the stock can  My race can falling off was the perfect excuse for me to upgrade. | ||

My drummer has been on for about 1500 miles now. Installed it myself. Works great and has not fallen off. |
