Hello, all! I recently picked up a 2006 Ulysses and I'm dealing with an electrical short in the headlight wiring. There is a 4 wire connector that goes into the headlight and the orange wire was severed. As I was looking at the back of the 2-headlight setup, I noticed a plug that goes in between the 2 bulbs and it looks like it has a slot for a small bulb or fuse or something. Right now, the one light works on low, one on high, but I read in the manual that both are supposed to work on high. I guess my questions are

1. What on Earth is that light/fuse plug?
2. If I reconnect the orange wire, do you think that both bulbs will work on high?

Thanks for any help!

The orange is for the running light/city light, that sits between the high and low beam. I don't recall the bulb it takes.

Here's how to get both lights on when you switch to high beam

you read the manual wrong.

normal operation is only one of the lights on at a time.

On that connector is 3 hot wires and a ground. The black is a ground, the yellow is low beam, white is high beam, and orange is for the running light. The running light only came standard on export bikes and then all 09+ XB. You can stick a bulb in there if you like, it is the same bulb as the licence plate light.

Thanks for the info! I'll do the light mod and stick a bulb in the plug. Have a great holiday weekend!

I put a green bulb in mine. When the parking lights are on the headlights glow green now. Bulb is the same as an 06 liberty license plate bulb.

I know this is silly but there is a bulb available that is a 7 color rotating LED. You can set your ign to park and your new light and the tail light will be on. The headlights look perty cool if it's dark out. I call it "mood lighting". It's been a hit around the campfire a few times.
