If I take a XB9 ECM and load XB12 emprom and maps on it it should run fine as a XB12 ECM right?

Assuming both ECMs are of the same generation (DDFI1, 2, 3) then yes. Also be sure they are the same firmware!

yes its the same. Just use the same firmware as a match and you can convert on to the other...

as Froggy said keep it matching in type/Firmware. do get crazy and typ to make a cross Hybrid. That can be done But only Three people have that program. It will SURFACE one day.

We had a new rabbit get born and he is learning tricks...
