I did a search of the knowledge vault on this one without much success as to what I was looking for. I took the bike apart tonight to send the heads and what not off to Nallin. I'm putting the 1050 kit on along with stage 3 heads. My question is should I bore the throttle body or just leave it as is? I read that a few people have done it and was thinking that while I'm there I might do this as well.

Can you use a 1200 throttle body? Aren't they 47 or 50 mm.

49mm, I believe. The 9's are 45mm. Put that up as a question for Aaron - he's done that kind of stuff for plenty of people, and should be able to tell you if your stock throttle body will work well or not.

It was a little over $2000 for the stage 3 heads and 1050 kit. I don't know how much extra the throttle body boring will be, but I'm hoping that it's not to bad. Then again maybe I won't need it.

Well I guess it doesn't matter much now as I sent the throttle body off yesterday. But, I'll ask anyway.

What is the major advantage of having this thing bored over?

Gator, what all did you have to send off to get the 1050 kit installed?

I didn't have to send off cylinders or anything. Just the heads for the headwork, and the throttle body for the boring procedure.

Keep us informed on how everything goes, and how it is dealing with Nallin. I've been interested in doing something similar myself.

You will get an increase in airflow, not fuel flow. Fuel flow is regulated by the injectors.

Jason,
Nallin is a great company to deal with. The quality of their work is second to none. I have a local guy here who does heads and everyone who owns a Buell at the shop got their heads done by this guy. The work isn't bad, just when we got our first set of Nallin heads they were just head and shoulders above what this guy does. I have enjoyed dealing with NRHS since we became dealers for them and if you want a truly high performance Buell, Nallin is one of the best choices you can make

No. I don't think there is a need to? I also don't think anyone makes an injector upgrade.

Moboy,
Thanks for the info. but I don't think I want to spend another $300 if the stock injectors will work.

But then again since I'm already there...

OK, I've been checking them out over at racingmotorcycles.com, and what is the advantage of their injectors over my stock injectors. They give the type of engine they are commonly used on, but no info. as to what they really do to improve fuel delivery.

Yes but if I can just program the PCIII to flow extra fuel what's the sense in getting the race injectors?

I dont think you'd need to with a 1050.
maybe if you up'd it to a 12?
why not just use 12 TB and FI for bigger&better?

Probably more expensive that way Misato. I'll have to check on it.

Buellgator, I haven't checked on the dyno yet but DynoJet says that if the injectors are working at 85% or better at full throttle then you need bigger injectors.

Just FYI.

Running your injectors above 85% cuts down on the injectors efficiency. Basically as I understand it, the injecter never gets a chance to close since the duty cycle is based on the length of time the injector is open between pulses. At 100% the injecter never closes. You want to use a larger injector to flow as much fuel in a shorter time then the injector you have, to get it back down to the 80%-85% duty cycle.

Thanks for the explanation Wycked.

It only makes sense that once you can flow enough air then fuel delivery will fall off with a modified motor and stock injectors.
