I need to know how to remove the wheel off of my 2003 buell. My tire is really bald from doing too many burnouts.

put a block under the back of the muffler, find a 3/8" allen wrench, remove the axle pinch bolt on the right under side of swingarm, then use a 7/8" wrench in conjunction with the cool little hex wrench in your BUELL tool bag, rotate rear axle CCW. gently move belt off pulley, and wheel comes out to the rear. tire is very easily removed from rim after deflation with a 6 inch c clamp, some soapy water, and a few small tire irons.

Missed a coupla steps!!!

after rotating the axle about 12 to 15 turns, not yet totally out. There is slack in the belt. (The axle is tapered smaller in the center) Remove the front pulley cover, loosen the lower bodywork first, though it says to take it off. Remove the idler pulley and the belt guard. Remove the brake caliber and mount from the swingarm. Remove the axle and CAREFULLY lower the wheel until the pulley can be taken out of the belt.

BE VERY CAREFUL TO NOT TWIST OR BEND THE BELT! IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE BELT CAREFULLY... AFTER REPLACING EVERYTHING YOU WILL BE DOING IT ALL AGAIN TO REPLACE THE BROKEN BELT.

GET A SERVICE MANUAL!!!!!!

reverse the procedure to reassemble (use antiseize compound on the axle threads and blue locktite on the other fasteners) and torque everything, torque specs cover every fastener including front pulley cover and chin fairing/lower body work torx screws.

There is a service bulletin on belt removal, VERY IMPORTANT!!! Really... get a service manual!!

Ditto on that. If you own an XB you NEED a service manual. You can do just about any service yourself if you have that manual.

You'll save alot of money and learn some things about your bike.

Get the manual. Get a Torque Wrench.

Follow the full procedure for Rear Wheel removal AND Drive belt removal.

Don't shortcut the belt removal, or you will be installing a new one soon.

ahhh yes, i left out the brake caliper removal step. i remember now. still a pretty straight forward job. and i am quite certain that the idler pulley does not need to come off to remove the rear wheel.

Check with Dave... about $50..00 or $60.00
