I have managed to find that the type of belt is a Goodyear Blackhawk PD. Now I don't have my bike here but think it is 40mm wide. I am also after the length of the belt in millimetres so that I can get pricing, or even better a Goodyear part # or at worst Buell Part #.

Damn, to get it from our supplier we can get 40mm wide for AUD$70 which is a drop in the ocean compared to Buell prices. Alternatively there is a 85mm version for roughly 2x the price of 40mm that could be cut into 3. You guys with the 9mm might be able to do your wallet a favour if you know what I mean.

Starter,

I dont know how successful it would be cutting a belt down, but it might be an idea for a spare though just to keep in the garage to at least keep you moving or get out of trouble.

Did you have any ideas on cutting the belt width down?

Did you find out how long you would need it and if it was available? I believe the genuine part is costs around AUD$450

I don't know if this helps you, but the part number on the stock belt is: G0500.02A8F

I measured the belt on my 04 XB9 last night and it is 1820mm in length. Seems to be an odd length surprise surprise. The only lengths close that are offered by Goodyear are 1778mm and 1890mm. That blows that idea away as the cutting was the easy bit as the belts are made in a huge width and are just cut to different widths. I had a conveyor belt shop lined up to do the cutting.

Back in my younger days I was employed by a belt supplier that cut rubber belts to specification. You may wish to contact the local supplier that cuts belts for your local grocery store. They have the proper equipment for the job.

I wouldn't mind getting a cheap belt.

It turns out the 14mm pitch belt on the 04 XB9 is 128 teeth. Industry Standard size is 127 teeth. Does this mean Buell had Goodyear make 128 tooth belts just for them?? Hard to beleive isn't it. I don't think it is the same for the XB12. Anyone want to count the teeth on their 12 belt for me.

I have been told that the belt and pulley set for the '04 XB9's are identical to those on the XB12's.

The specs are the same for both bikes as stated on the Buell website:

Constant path; 14mm pitch aramid reinforced
Hibrex® belt with Flexten® Plus technology; 2.407:1 (65/27).

Yeah looked in the service manual and figured that the pulleys are the same. Belt teeth listed in the manual is 155. I think I've found an error in the service manual. I've counted 20 times and there are 128 teeth on the belt.
