I understand the Uly rear wheel weighs more then the others, any idea of how much more, and where the additional weight is at, pre 2010?

Thanks

The spokes are reinforced to take more abuse during travel on dirt roads.

+2 on the thicker outer rim on the Uly. IIRC, both the standard XB and Uly wheels use the same casting. They just machine a little more meat from the inside of the rim for the standard XB wheel.

Any idea of the weight difference? I have a standard XB wheel for a project that is not in great shape, and am about to get a Uly wheel and someone mentioned it weighed more. It shouldn't make a difference for me, but I was curious. I can't see it being much.

Thanks

I weighed a set of early Uly Wheels:

Front: 9.46 pounds (with bearings and bearing spacer tube; without brake rotor and without brake rotor mounting hardware).

Rear: 14.86 pounds (with bearings and bearing spacer tube; without drive pulley, without brake rotor, without pulley and rotor mounting bolts.

I have the weights for my standard XB wheels around somewhere... can't find it at-the-moment. I'll post it if I find it.

The 2010 also uses a three bearing rear wheel where the other years use a two bearing wheel.

Is the 2010 Uly wheel any different than the other 2010 wheels?

Did the pre-2010 Uly wheel come in any color other than that hideous magnesium color?

Are the XT wheels also "beefed up" somehow, or just the X?

So many questions! I truly have no use for the info, but I've wondered these things for a long time now!

Why didn't you ask sooner? You know I usually do nothing at work anyway : )
