how much money you want to spend?

There isnt any kit to get that kinda power out of the bikes..right now. Maybe some monster turbo setup, but even if you were to produce that type of power you would also have to change out the drive belt for a chain which is even more $$.

Hell, if you could afford to get 145hp out of an XB motor the additional cost of a chain drive would be a drop in the bucket. ; )

This brings up a good point. There are a number of vocal people here that want a Buell Hyperbike, capable of really high top speeds, something that can run with the inline four hyperbikes, or the $20,000 ducs.

I don't know for sure, but I suspect that one of these $6000 XB9R's showing up, plus a $14,000 check to either Aaron or Pammy, would *get* you a bike that would run with a $20,000 Ducatti, or Aprilla, or whatever, for about the same price.

Now granted, thats a lot of money relative to a $9,500 R1 / GSXR-1000, but pretty even relative to the other semi-exotics. I have gotten crap for saying this in the past, but I can't see how you can call a Buell anything but a semi-exotic (like a Duc, an Aprilla, a Guzzi, or even many Triumphs).

If I had the money or the desire for that kind of hyperbike (even for an R1 or something), I would much rather have it delivered to me from Pammy or Aaron then direct from Buell. If Buell were to produce a 150 HP bike, they would have to spend too much time and money on "regulatory" headaches that would then be reflected in the price.

If I am going to spend $15 or $20k on a hyperbike, I want that extra money to spent making the bike haul , not spent trying to make the motorcycle sound less then half as loud as your average freeway tractor-trailer tire when the RPM is between 3500 and 4500 RPM.

That being said, I still feel like my Cyclone is more bike then I can totally use, and my next bike will probably be an XB9s (used and cheap). I have only had the cyclone up to 100mph once, and that was by necessity, and I didn't even enjoy it that much. On one hand I thought "hey this is pretty fun" and on the other hand I was thinking "but I think Kentucky impounds motorcycles at this speed, and I don't want to ruin the rest of my weekend of riding planned for deals gap". But that's for a different thread...

Had a golfing buddy who used to show up about every month with a new set of clubs, whatever was the latest and greatest. He probably spent $10-15000 a year on equipment. But he never paid a dime for a lesson and his game never changed.

Same with most sport bike riders. It's not the bike that limits their fun. It is their ability to ride it. Riding with experienced riders (whether you're at the front or the back of the pack) can teach you a lot. Track days, advanced safety courses, good bike books and videos all can help. What would $10000 a year spent on track schools do to your riding ability?
Ok, none of that will win you a drag race like a 145 hp engine will, but I didn't buy a Buell to drag, I bought it to ride roads that curve and reward handling.

So, if you're not having fun, maybe it's not the HP of your bike, but the kind of riding you're doing or who you're riding with.

You "could" get it to fit, if you were creative enough with your fabrication. The fuel tank would no longer be useable as it would have to be modified for the heads to snuggle into. I am fairly certain a really good CNC fabricator could make a pair of transmission sideplates that attached to the frame the footpegs attach now. Just attach the footpegs to the sideplates. Part of the sideplates could also be used for the mounting of the swingarm. I could go on, when Sundance H-D made their version of Lucifer's hammer I started looking into the idea of a custom frame for a BigTwin engine. Never went further then the drawing board.

Now, what I would like to know is how long it would take for someone to make a custom case that could handle a 4.25" bore and stroke for the XB's...kinda along the lines of the Zippers Magnum Sporty engine...Thought it was funny that someone chose $14000 since that is the cost of that motor from Zippers...
