Hey Guys!!

I am going to be replacing the headers on my Firebolt XB9R. I just got back my ceramic coated headers and can't wait to get them on. Is there an easy way to do this. It looks like there are only 6 bolts but 2 of them are up by the fan behind the frame. It looks like the back end of the bike needs to be taken off.

Anyone have any ideas or know of any easy way to do this.

i'm pretty sure the engine needs to be rotated forward to get the headers on/off...the service manual explains this step by step

easier way -I think..
take fan/rear shock out, undo O2 and header bolts
I used a 1/4 drive woble/socket to get to the back header bolts, works great.
then take the 3 bolts out of the oil cooler bracket (1 on the header side and 2 on the other side) then you can get the header off without droping the motor down.

Misato.....thanks, I will give that a shot. Has anyone else put ceramic coated headers on they Firebolt XB9 or 12? Did anyone notice a performance increase or decrease? Did anyone notice a heat difference coming off the headers?

They look chrome. It was about $120 for them to coat them.

Is there a quick way to drop the exhaust? Need to get the headers off the exhaust and that is the last thing I need to do and it is all done. Any help will be appreciated.

OK....another dumb question...does the exhaust need to be dropped in order to get the headers off?

Found the answer guys. Here it is for anyone that needs the info.

1.Remove the chin fairing by removing the 4 torx screws that hold it in place. Don't loose the white plastic washers.
2.Loosen the rear axle pinch bolt on the underside of the swingarm.
3.Using the rear axle removal tool unscrew the rear axle 20 full turns. This loosens the drive belt tension.
4.Remove the front belt guard by removing the 3 torx screws that hold it in place. Don't loose the white plastic washers.
5.Unscrew the 2 nuts that retain the belt tensioner and pull the tensioner off of its studs. The studs are a close fit on the holes in the tensioner so be sure to pull off in a straight even manner. Don't try to pry it off. If it sticks then push it back on all the way and try again to pull it off straight.
6.Loosen the clamp on the muffler's inlet.
7.Loosen the clamp bolt that holds the header to the muffler.
8.Loosen and remove the three band clamps that hold the muffler to the frame.
9.Work the muffler off of the header by twisting slightly and you are done.
