My Buell salesguy (who rides a race-kitted XB9S) says Buell will intro some kind of super-motard model for '05. I scratched my head at his comment but he's pretty sure something in that vicinity is coming. Prof |

I've posted nearly all of the information I have. At one point I had a brain fart and tried to pry '05 Buell info out of one of the sales guys . . . then I realized that our sales team still hasn't figured out the '04 Buell info. Mike L. |

some kind of super-motard model for '05 That would be sweet!!! I know most of you guys want a touring model... but I think super motard is gonna go boom in the US. This would be a dope way for Buell to introduce their bikes to a to a diverse group of enthusiasts and provide an excellent opportunity to get into factory sponsored racing. Now the big question is: How can I convince my S.O. I gotta have one??? |

super-motard model for '05 what the heckm is a super-motard like? Sounds like a Blast with different ergo's. The reason I say that is to date, all competitive supermoto's are single cylinder engines. Not to mention, the Blast is still a Tuber and the frame geometry can be relatively easily altered. Then again, the XBS's would make great supermoto type bikes and that would really be a hit with the BattleTrax riders. In fact, it might even satisfy my rant about wanting a StreetTracker. Hmmm...Can't wait to see what surprises both Buell and Harley have in store for us in 2005!} |

Maybe a 601.5cc Blast motor in the XB frame? FI as well? Sounds like my kind of bike. |

Mike L: at the time I could easily shop all over the place for what I was interested in. The aprilia I looked at was in Greenville SC, the Honda was in Salisbury MD, the Suzuki I looked at was in Atlanta GA...the XB12 I bought was in Seaford DE. If you can shop around, you will find the deals. I know someone right now who is buying an '03 Mille with 0 miles on it for $9000 out the door. We have seen XB's for sale on Ebay for thousands less then what some of us paid for ours. Its all in how far outside your neighborhood your willing to go to find what you want. |

Wycked, There are deals everywhere. Modesto is currently offering '04 XB12s for $8500 plus fees. When you add in the fees it will probably be more than the $9k for the Mille, but the bike is also a year newer. My point is that at MSRP the prices of the XB12s are in line with their competition. |

Here's an example of a super motard. Since KTM has been off road for years, I think slapping street tires is a simpler task then converting a Blast to handle off road. Is the frame and suspension up to the task? edited by tucsonxb9s on July 05, 2004 |

How's about beefing up the Blast to something like this? |

The Blast is what it is....an entry level bike. I don't think you are going to see any developement of that model. Maybe new colors or plastic bits. |

I'd like to see Honda offer a factory built XR650L in serious Motard trim...OOPS! This is a Buell board...sorry |

Love the KTM Super Moto and the Honda XR650L conversions. Of the two I like the KTM better as it has a more workable ergo's, especially the reach to the bars. Now imagine that kind of platform with an XB engine. Actually, the XBS's are just about there and only a few mods (like the handlebars) need be done. Wow, talk about fun! Oh well, that's redundant as we can make those mods to most of the Buell's for a lot less than it would take Buell to gamble on a new model. Guess, we are just doomed to wait and see what's in store for us in the 2005 line up. |

>> Yamaha board too don't you mean Yamaha bored? kidding! I've owned three. Seriously, If Buell were to build a Motard, I believe they'd have to cradle the motor better. |

>>>Yamaha board too...he-he Perhaps more than you know. Court P.S. - I'd be a BIGTIME candidate for the Super motard. A sportbike is NYC is absolutely useless, save for doing the body javelin toss, but a high seat (see over traffic), long-legged (the world's most notorious pot holes) and high torque (I confess of love of going throught the lights up 1st Avenue on the rear wheel) now THAT's a bike I can RIDE.

Turnagain...I agree. That is one of the primary reasons why I felt the Blast would be more conducive to the application if Buell were into a supermotard. Engine size & configuration of the racing classes is the other. The XBS conversions would be pretty much cosmetic and the best application for them, other than hooliganism, would be events like BattleTrax. |

Too heavy for SuperMot with the XB motor setup... KTM would eat their lunch. I've been on a Duke and comparing this to the XB is like Ali to Foreman... Buell would have to re-introduce a tuber frame, lengthen the wheelbase, add a degree of rake on the front end and lose about 30 lbs... Not gonna happen... |

Kaudette...All very valid points but from a Hooligan/BattleTrax perspective, I think it would be kind of cool. Different in every sense as it would not fit any current (at least in Wisconsin) SM criteria. Now, I have to applaud you on the Ali vs Foreman comparo. That was just way too funny and true! |

Hmmm...Another good thought. Bet somebody is going to knock it due to the wheelbase, ground clearance, suspension, belt drive, no protective fairing and no hard bags. Oh well, we can dream, eh? |

Well, according to all the requests posted on the BWB, the market for the XB12T Sport Touring Model is considerably larger than the Dirty Street Bike market and should be an easy thing for the factory to do. Perhaps HD will surprise me with that V-Rod StreetTracker. LOL |

Been pretty damn good with my batting averages on guessing what Buell & HD has been offering the last few years. The only 1 I really messed up on was I was sure HD would offer a Bagger version of the V-Rod last year. |
