My bike is a stock 2009 Ulysses.
Installed a new Erik Buell Racing race ECM and a race fuel cap a few weeks ago. I've put several tanks of gas through it now; enough to form an opinion about these products. The fuel cap is labeled differently than the website pictures but it seems to be exactly the same as the Ilmberger part.

I haven't heard anything about that. Does anyone here have knowledge of this? I have only one complaint and it's a small one. The opening for fueling is much smaller than the stock one so it is more difficult to tell when the tank is almost full. Installation went exactly as has been posted before. One thing I did notice that I don't remember being mentioned before is there is a small threaded hole near the top of the outer shell (the part that is mounted) that looks like it could be an optional vent. It has a small set screw in it. I noticed that the set screw is not secured. It seems like it could easily vibrate out of the hole and either fall into the neck of the filler or out to the outside.

I put a small amount of 5 minute epoxy on the threads and put it back into the threaded hole. I do love the feel of the cap as it clicks into place. I also love not having to use the key to open it.
The ECM worked without a hitch.
I set the throttle position sensor then started the engine and let it idle for 10 minutes as instructed. I then took the bike out for a nice drive down the interstate to let the ECM learn. After that it was fun and games. The power delivery is oh-so-much smoother and comes on sooner and stronger than stock. I have heard some complain of more vibration. At first I didn't notice any increase but I think the vibration might be slightly more at certain RPM's, but not bad.
The engine starts strong and never hints at needing to be restarted. This was sometimes a problem, especially if it was cold out. The higher idle speed at first makes a big difference. It does shake more while warming up due to the faster idle. Speaking of warming up - I have tried taking off right after a cold start. There was no hesitation or coughing. I like that. The surging at cruising speed is pretty much gone but there is some surging at lower RPM's. A little tuning might get rid of that if I can learn how to do it. I heard a small amount of engine knock a few days ago. This is the first time I have ever heard this bike do it. Outside temperatures were near 100 degrees and I had been in stop-and-go traffic for a while. When I hit the throttle hard one time the engine knocked slightly until it had revved up some. This indicates to me that the ignition timing matrix is probably just about perfect.
The fan logic seems OK. It seems to run on high all the time once the engine is hot except for speeds under about 10 mph. I can't tell if it shuts off at high speeds because of all the other noise. I think it would be nice if it did turn off at highway speeds to save on the life of the fan motor. The fan will run after the engine is shut off if the engine is very hot but otherwise shuts off as soon as I hit the kill switch.
All in all I really like the new ECM. I am strongly considering retrofitting the XB9 primary sprocket kit. This bike is all stock except for the parts mentioned here. I have ordered the axle sliders from Andrew and will order Vibranator bar ends next week. I'm looking forward to trying those out. I'll post about them when I have them.

Looking at where it seals, I have to ask... How full is full? Do you fill it up to where it locks into place or only as far as the lower level?

I fill only to the top of the aluminum motorcycle frame. There is a rubber gasket there where the filler neck meets the motorcycle frame. The original filler neck has an o-ring at that location. That is one thing I like better about the stock part.
