Tuber guy here working on a XB,done many search's and noticed several post commenting on the FSM spec. of up to.024 TIR being acceptableas its a floating rotor. Anyone know what page this is on('07 12XBS FSM).

I'd like to read it myself as I can't believe any rotor that far out or even half that amount being acceptable because a tuber's solid mounted rotor with more then .005 will shake/pulse like a dog shedding water.

I'm working with a new wheel/used rotor combination and is averaging .004-.0045 across the face.

Edit, I found it.page 2-35 front caliper inspection section.

Solid mounted rotor on a tuber?
My rear is solid mounted with a floating caliper.

Make sure your rotor mounting hardware is clean if it binds, it will behave like it's bent like a banana.

"Solid mounted rotor on a tuber?

You lost me? what does that have to do with acceptable run-out.?

Sorry. I was drinking last night

I meant to imply that the front rotors on a tuber are floating.

I also meant to imply that if the mounting hardware in either design is gunked up with brake dust or anything, it will act like the rotor is warped.

The XB design is well-known as being more susceptible to this problem. It's also easier to fix.

I would suggest removing the rotor and examining all of the springy things and little pockets in the rim where the tabs go. make sure they are all clean.

When the rotor is off, you can easily see if it's bent like a banana if you lay it on a known flat surface.

Technically, they say that the mounting hardware is to be thrown away and replaced with new stuff but you can get away with reusing it. It's a good excuse to buy the Erik Buell Racing brake mounting upgrade too.

>>>Sorry. I was drinking last night...

I've been known to do that on occasion

As previously stated new wheel,hardware/used rotor.

Checked the mounting bosses before installing the rotor, they varied +/-.0012

Set up I use for measuring run-out.

How much of that run out is in the bearings?

If you take a magnetic stand and attach it to the lower fork and have the wheel properly torqued into the forks does it change your measurements?

You might have a stacking tolerances issue.
Have you checked the wheel itself?

Just thinking out loud but what are the odds that if you rotated the rotor 180 on the wheel, it would change the measurements?
