So I finally grabbed one of the cheapo motorcycle jacks that is meant for flat framed bikes and want to make an adapter for my XB... Does the adapter actually need to lift the bike or can the semicircle just be used to hold the bike side to side and let the bottom of the muffler provide all lift?

If the adapter just needs to keep things centered, then I can make it smaller and won't need to raise the bike on blocks to get under it. If it needs to be structural then I'll need to rethink what I am doing.

The muffler is internally braced at the points marked on it.
I use a chunk of wood on my Uly. I just tip it over on the kikstand, slide the block of wood under it with my foot and set it down on the block.
