If you read my other threads, I had back surgery and lost about 2" in height making me unable to even tiptoe on the ULY. I love this bike so much that I need all options to lower it. I need about a 2" drop. I plan to shave the seat but exactly what other parts will I need to do it properly. I know I will get risers for the bars so I can move them up in the trees to account for rear lowering. So, please, can I get a parts list of what I need to do, or also pipe in and tell me that I am wasting my time and get a BMW GS with low suspension, that is my last option but I LOVE ULY. Thanks all.

Oreg,
I think 1125R front forks, XB12S rear shock.
Look around some on this board some have done it.

Not sure on the triple T!!!!

1125R front fork legs and the XB12ss rear shock are exactly what I used to lower mine. Drops the front about 2 1/2 inches and about the same for the rear. No problem with the triple tree. The 1125R legs fit right in. The only change to the 1125R fork legs is to use metric fender mounting bolts or retap the holes to accept the uss thread Uly front fender mounting bolts.
XB9 or XB12 front fork legs will also work.
The kickstand will also have to be shortened or replaced with a Lightning one.

Ruining a perfectly good Uly, But it beats not being able to ride it. Uly-Classic, Uly-Lite, Uly-Cop, and Uly-LowRider. I'm amazed at the ground clearance under mine when I had the can off of it.

I may be wrong, but the spring rate on the 1125 forks may be higher than the "s" model if you are needing a nice smooth ride like the Uly is famous for...

Sorry to hear your dilemma. I understand your spine is shorter from the back surgery but how did your legs (inseam) get shorter?

I was wondering the same thing. I'm guessing maybe he can't tilt his pelvis (which would help you get one foot down) like he could before?

Good luck with your mods. It sounds like it can be done without that much trouble.

I had a 29" inseam to begin with, its now 27, why? I dont know, old man syndrom? I am probobly uch older than most of you, but yes, since surgery, I cant fling a leg onto uly at all, I have decided to sell it and get something more easily adaptable like a GS. Thanks for the all comments and help. Uly sadly will go for sale.

sorry to hear you are selling the uly. I wish you the best with your future motorcycling!

I too really want to lower my xb9s, if I just get the xb9sl shock (is this the right part number K0410.1AE first?) do I also have to get different front forks? or can I adjust the ones on my 2003 xb9s enough?

Be careful shortening or lengthening the front forks. Doing so changes the front end geometry and may make the bike unstable or handle poorly.

I lowered my XBR by sliding the forks up in the triple trees up front and the yellow spring shock in the back. It has been ridden for 12k miles with no issues. As long as the front and back are lowered evenly it should not have any effect on the geometry.
