Anyone using either the Double Bubble or Sport Touring (see link). Would like to see a picture on your bike and your impressions.

Thanks

Several folks here have the double bubble on their XBs.

I have one on my R1 in light smoke, fits great & looks cool. Is it "better" than the stock piece? Hell if I can really tell much of a difference.

I have the sport touring on my XB9. Made an amazing difference at freeway speeds above 70 MPH. No loss of visibility, perfect fit, excellent finish and it really makes my commute easier.

15 minute install from start to finish will all stock hardware - perfect fit.

I tussled over the decision regarding the double-bubble vs. the sport touring but ultimately wanted more wind protection for my commute (100 miles round trip each day.)

I'll snap a pic or two and post, but I wholeheartedly recommend the company's products no matter which you pick.

I was leaning toward the Sport Touring version but still want to maintain that racy look and not turn it into a Gold-Wing or something. Will look forward to the pics - maybe a full side shot?

Vaughn, I've got the sport touring screen on my 12R and really like it. Like Chris said, it's a bit taller and helps at highway speeds... I don't have a digital camera yet so I can't help in that regard. Oh, and they do have the screens in the amber color also, when I got mine a few months ago, they didn't have them listed on the website but they did start making them and they are a good color match also, couldn't tell the difference...

I have the double bubble on mine as well... I would recommend it BUT...

I now have three places on my gage pod that melted. One is completely through and at night I can see light through it. I haven't taken pics but I am nearly certain it is due to the double bubble. There are at least two others on this board that have had the same trouble. It seems to be an issue when the bike is facing west in the morning...

Other than that... Flawless and certainly makes a difference at speed. Highly recommended if you take steps to avoid melting your pod. I was considering spray painting the back side flat black. Mine is dark smoke already so it wouldn't make much difference. If they are now making them in amber I'll be buying one of those.

Also, as an added bonus... in my normal tuck position I get a reflection of my tach from about 2500 to 6000 so it's like having a HUD. Very neat : ).

That's another reason I chose the ST version (versus the double-bubble) inasmuch as there is zero reflected heat on the guages and I don't get the reflection in full tuck...

I don't think my scoot looks like a gold wing... ; )

I dont understand how a windscreen could cause a gauge pod to "melt". The plastic shouldnt have any type of magnifying properties to it.

Have you ever heard of plastic lenses? Maybe eyeglass lenses? Same concept. The windscreen is a convex surface that focuses the light from the sun. It doesn't magnify per se, just focuses. Just like burning ants with a magnifying glass...

This is the Sport touring screen, as used by Hal's race team. has anyone told them they are supposed to be touring?

i can see why they use it tho
with the double bubble even a 5'10" person cant tuck in behind it my helmet is still sticking about halfway up even in full tuck
gets kinda rough on the neck at 120+

I installed the double bubble two weeks ago and it makes a lot of difference over stock. Especially at over 100mph and greater stability in high speed turns.

I have the double bubble, and it works much better than stock..I do wish I had picked the sport touring one though. It looks like it works even better, and has a good look to it.

I think the sport touring one looks better than the Double bubble.

My double-bubble's on the way. Guess I'll just have to remember not to park it in the sun...still like it better than the S/T one.
