Hi,New to Forum, need advice/info...thinking of purchasing a "New" 2007 XB12STT,Harly dealer near me has one on the floor, asking $7K with 2 year Warranty from Harly, what are the major concerns/issue's with this bike,as I've been told by Buell owners, that this is a bike that requires more maint.& mechanical issue's then your typical Jap bike.THX

I bought my '07 XB12S in June of 2007 and have been very happy with it. I replaced the upper rocker box gaskets on the rear cylinder and the fuel pump just threw a code, but still works. I haven't adjusted the valves yet.
The tubers from 10 years ago had quality issues, but the XB's seem pretty reliable to me.

I've put 39K miles on my '06 XB12Ss. Almost the same as the TT. I've had few problems beyond simple maintenance, and I do mean simple. This list of my "problems" are as follows...
Neutral light switch replaced under warranty 10,500 miles.

#77 connector (voltage regulator connector) burned up at 14,000 miles. Easy fix with the upgraded connector. I'm not sure what year they started with the upgraded connector.

Fan replaced under warranty at 18,700 miles. There seemed to be a rash of bad fan bearings. My original was noisy from day one. The replacement has been quite (the bearing at least).

Front wheel bearings under warranty at 22,000 miles.

Replaced front isolator at 34,000 miles. Easy fix to do. They eventually wear out and need replacing.

Broken drive belt at 36,500 miles. I will replace the next one around 20K and keep the old one as a spare.

The only thing that would have been hard for me to do would have been the wheel bearings, simply because I don't have a bearing puller and press. It hasn't been a perfect bike, but I wouldn't call it problematic. It's great never having to adjust valves. That can be expensive maintenance on many bikes. I would do it all over again.

My 07 STT has been great. Did an ECM replacement (under warranty), other than that she has been fantastic.

Dew itt.

I love mine.

I'll be making a couple of ergo adjustments to make the thing more comfortable for my tall frame. Aside from that and some Amsoil, I'm leaving it as-is during my get to know you session with the bike.

Get it.
c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon c'mon ...

get it.

Good luck I just paid $6k out the door for my used 07 stt with 9k miles. Not a good deal, but its the bike I wanted and I didn't have to travel to get it or be disappointed when I got there. Also kbb is almost always way low when it comes to motorcycles weather it's trade in values or retail either one.

Bought mine used in Vegas a year ago in March with just under 5K miles, $4,500.00.

Major concerns/issue's:

Came with a nasty chromed eagle plate frame, also I had to put heated grips on. It didn't have those. You prolly won't need them...

Wired a distributer block for the heated vest/grip wiring. Also I don't get the fuel mileage others boast of, I think that's due to elevation.

Be careful, chicks dig 'em (see pic below).

There are a number of used, very low mile STT's out there, especially if you are okay to travel.

At the Buell track day at the Miller Motor Sports Park in 2007 it was my favorite bike on the track. Rode it, an S, and an R, plus my tuber. Wonderful handling bike, and I can ride two up with the Ss seat plus pegs I added.

I will be kicking myself if dillon bros. Still has some for that price as I'm in Sioux city ia (only 90 miles away) and just paid 6k for used. There aren't any listed on their website but I didn't actually go Down there.

Back in March a fellow badwebber posted up in the classifieds (IIRC) that there were a few for sale there. They never appeared on their website, I called the same day I saw the ad here on the badweb and put a down payment on one. I then picked it up a few days later.

Its a 2008, VIN number 9 and now has about a thousand miles on it.

Does Wolfridgerider still have his up for sale or is it sold? He's a ways off, but at least on the same coast, up in Virginia.

Woot!

Enjoy it man. I'm getting to know my 07 STT more and more every time I ride to work.

I find myself in a classic flat tracker riding position when I'm on the highway to avoid a bunch of wind chop and when I need to leave the stop line faster.
The suspension needs NEEDS to be adjusted correctly for your weight and riding style. One you have that done, it's all fun and games.

Congrats.
