I think I read a tip about this a while ago on here but I decided to check my kickstand bolt the other day when I randomly thought of it. And it was darn near falling out. That could've really sucked... So remember to check yours!

Does this affect all years, or was it the earlier XB's that had the issue. Mine is a 2007. Would hate to see her topple!

Mine's an 06 - so I think yours is the same. Not a big deal to check - just a wrench or socket will tighten 'er up if she's loose!

I don't know if my kickstand is the upgrade style or not because I bought it off ebay. It was for the low model. Well the bolt broke and the pin was working its way out. I just removed the bolt and put the pin back in. Its working fine without the bolt.

Loctite is a cheap investment.

If the bolts that hold the kikstand to the engine are coming loose, tightening them is not the fix. They will come loose again.

I disagree. Problem: loose bolt. Fix: tighten it. Just like - Problem: dirty oil. Fix: change oil. Just because a fix doesn't last until the end of time doesn't make it not a fix. I do agree loctite is a good idea to hopefully have it not come loose again or at least not as frequently. Is there a better fix? I'm sure there are lots. Weld it on there? Replace with something different? Wrench and loctite work for me.

thread locker works great, you can get a small tube of it at any auto parts store and medium strength should be enough to hold it in case you have to remove it later on.

I cheecked mine at the end of the season last year, and it was broken off at the threads. I drilled out the 5/16 thread, and re-tapped it for 3/8-16. I also made a new bolt out of 4130 p.h.. It won't fail. Now the mount or the kickstand will fail first.
