OK, so, has anyone raised the ride height of their scg forks with spacers or springs, say 1.5 with good results? can it be done without negatively altering rebound/damping characteristics? I'm looking for an "S" stance without dropping the tubes in the clamps, or switching to "S" tubes & lower triple clamps... I have an 05'12s(set-up for sport touring w/HB hardbags windscreen etc.) and an 05'12scg for more aggressive rides & I'm finding I need the "S" travel (i.e. scg bottoming out occasionally grrr) I understand the shock and stand need to be replaced w/ the "S" with 1.5 more up front, & these are readily attainable... my motive here is to be able to switch ride heights easily and quickly, as I do love the scg look for less aggressive jaunts...any thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated!

Why don't you swap back to stock height XB forks?

Seems to be the only way to get "OEM quality" ride height... purpose built forks from the factory. Not discouraging...but it might be cheaper and less expensive even to swap with someone with springs made for vertically-gifted peeps ; )

HAHA! thanks for that, BOOst... yeah, good point, and a viable option!.. only problem with that is the scg forks are a smaller dia. in 05', so, the triples have to be changed too, and that negates an "easy/quick" changeover when desired. Just hoping for a spring/spacer mod for a bit more ride height "in situ" if possible.

if you are bottoming out the suspension you need to adjust it for your weight, not get taller forks

The 03-04 standard height XBs use the 41mm forks like your Scg, so they will drop right in. There is a set of 03 forks for sale in the classifieds too.

>>if you are bottoming out the suspension you need to adjust it for your weight, not get taller forks<< Daniel.. thx for that! I tried a bit more pre-load t-nite on my backroad country ride and it DEFINITELY helped! but alas, with a bit more harshness/road feel on the straights... my "s" is just so GOLDEN all around...hmmm(I AM packin' 10+ lbs of winter fat, ugh!)normally I weigh 180 & now 190+..there-in may lie part of my dilemma, I'm thinking now...

FROGGY... If no one has told you "THANK YOU" for all you do for us today, let me be he first! I was not aware that 03-04 "s" forks (how'd I miss that)were the correct dia. for my clamps...HA! another option has emerged!... I'm thinking I'll be skipping a few dinners this month first tho.. (Italian wife..loves to cook!)

Glad to help.

Also, changing the triple trees isn't that hard worst comes to worst, hell 90% of the work is done to get the forks out. : )

There used to be a lot of people looking to trade standard for low. I am sure if you posted something in the wanted section, someone out there must be looking for a low setup.
