ChiBueller - I feel the same way. I was thinking "Hell, cheaper and faster. Maybe these Suzook guys are onto something." I know the motor is right on but the rest of the bike is worrisome.

Jason,

Then how about the Super Hawk? Very similar bike, more comfortable than the TL, and no shock or frame issues for the same price.

The SuperHawk has side mounted radiators. Not many bikes out there with that kinda stuff. The fairing hides it all. From what I hear, the bike is a little wider but has more leg room and corners better.

I hate the look of radiators on bikes. Everything is so streamline and then you bolt on a huge square block. I'd like to see the new Buell h2o motor go this route.

The big difference to me is the carbs on the VTR versus injection on the TL.

I hear the VTR is a terrific bike but gets awful gas mileage.

I rode a VTR once. Awesome power, but the handlebars never stopped buzzing. It was quite annoying. I don't know if they are all like that.

Plus it's only good for a 100 miles a tank, so maybe that's a good thing considering the vibration.

Choptop,

That model is old, back when it first came out in 94, because it has 17, Miguel DuHamel's number. They are available at some HD dealers, sometimes at a discount. Buy them now before the street model comes out again!

My buddy has a VTR that I've ridden a few times. Jose is right about the buzzy bars, and it doesn't have a very large tank so you can't go much more than 100 miles. I really liked the power from the engine (my friend had added a pipe and jet kit), but I absolutely hated the ergos. Maybe I'm just too used to my X1, but after about 10 minutes of riding my wrists, back, and hips were killing me. I'm only 5'10" and weigh about 200 so I don't think I was just too big for the bike. Maybe a different set of bars would make it more comfortable.

The VTR is full faired the Super Hawk is 1/4 faired. Progressive's rates are a huge difference. Are you guys talking about the same bike as me. Look at the pic above.

Quite possibly the VTR is just the full faired version with a few more guts in the engine dept.

VTR1000F Super Hawk

VFR800FI Interceptor

TL1000S

Another big difference between the VTR and the TL ... 9.4:1 compression on the Honda, 11.3:1 on the Suzuki.

ChiBueller - I was checking out any other V-twin bike a while back. I was just looking around for a Buell alternative to see what the score was. If I found something I liked better then I'd consider getting it in addition to my Buell. Deal was I investigated along the same lines and hit dead ends on each. The Suzook developed stress cracks in the frame that were not covered by the corp. or the dealers. The VTR would only go 100 miles on a tank (something I got tired of on my 97 M2), was buzzy, and I heard kind of boring to ride. The TLR wasn't my cup of tea. The best V-twin alternative I found was the SV650. Since it's a 650 it will never have the trq we're used to but you can tune the nuts off'em to about 80hp. If I were going to buy another Vtwin it would be an SV. Cheap to run, purchase, repair (relative to other sport bikes), and I hear it makes you feel like superman in the turns.

Now my idea of a bike is to take the fuel injected 1800cc Honda VTX motor and put it into a C&J or Spondon Frame, and little else.

Will any manufacturer ever make such a torque monster?

How about a 160 inch S&S motor in FXR frame with dual Mikunis?

How about a turbo injected Porshe flat six in a Gold Wing frame?

Just Wishin'
