Ive had an occasional popped ignition fuse for about 18 months. It pops, i change it and back on the road. never had been able to find the chafed wire. Well she stranded me last week. I read up and saw the fuel pump can cause it so I checked for continuity and sure enough, both wires rang to ground. Removed lower shock mount, jacked up bike and pulled the pump, I had JUST filled her up so I had to drain 3 gallons out, I actually gor 2 into a gas can LOL. There it was, chafed wire plain as day! Ran some heat shrink over it, put it back together and I'm back on the road. Bad news is I missed Bike week...

Funny, I saw the title and said "ruh roh, another fuel pump". Glad you figured it out without much hassle.

Yep not much hassle at all. I started disconnecting connectors and ringing out wires as well as replaceing the fuse and watching it pop. I narrowed it down to the fuel pump by disconnecting it and the fuse didnt pop. Pulled the pump out and it was staring at me! Grey power wire was chafed thru. The others looked good but I shrink wrapped them too. Now I need to order new o-rings, I hate re-using them but generous amounts of DC-4 let me slide the pump back in.
