Hawaii is a a nice place to live, but the combination of heavy salt air and the fact that it rain everyday, makes it hard on my bike. Already some of the bolts are started to rust. Like the pipe that I am soon replacing! What do you guys do for rust and oxidation. Semper Fi Tatsu | ||

Get all the metal parts ceramic coated. I don't have their website, but one place advertises that if it's metal, they can coat it. It's suppose to be completely rustproof. | ||

Tatsu, you no like when run down da Kaneohe side of da Pali? From da tunnel all da way down...or is dat da 12 turns you when talk 'bout? heh, I used to spray the bike down with PAM cooking spray on the frame and swing arm. But that was a Ninja250 with a CR500 engine. Just made sure to clean and paint any nicks in the exhaust. Can't remember what I used to dab on the bolts though to keep them from corroding. | ||

I did, cut the bottom cradle out of the Honda frame and had it welded up to the Ninja frame. Total screamer. Topped out around 95 due to gearing but I was too cheap to play with the sprockets for better top speed. Weighed just over 225lbs. No, it isn't still around, the guy that I sold it to, plowed into the back of a car with it. It was registered for the street, kind of, the Ninja was registered then I did the swap when the 250 engine blew up. | ||

The best thing for coating metal parts that is cheap and easy to do is to buy a product called PENETROL , it's a paint conditioner and it is for protecting bare metal products as well... also works great on gelcoat that is white and chalky from fading...used it on my boat this year and it looks like I cleared it...can't scratch it off either...This product can be found at Home Depot...read the directions on the can and there you go......KEVIN | ||

LOL Wycked... When was the last time you were in Hawaii!!!! 12 turns in up by North Shore.. 12 mean turns coming out of Halewa heading to Wahiawa. Now they have what I call the supersport run Kaneohe Bay H3 through the New H3 tunnel that runs into the H1. Total length 15 miles.. once your on there is no way to get off till the other side. Which means if you don't see any cops behind you you got a free ticket to go open throttle. The hairpin on the Pali hwy piece of cake.  There's also Norfolk road in Kailua. That's nice.. and Tantalus is nice. Other than that not much.. .but maybe go to Waikiki park the bike and watch the girls come up. Semper Fi Tatsu edited by Tatsu on June 18, 2004 | ||

Blame my EX Rokoneer. She ended up with all the photos. Course you could only tell by looking at it from the custom exhaust. All the stock bodywork hid the motor. It's been 3 years, 7 months today since I left. Tantalus was always a blast. I didn't spend much time in Kailua. I rode the Pali alot simply because I would do the circuit of the island from Waikiki over the Pali and back around through Waimanalo past Sandy Beach through Hawaii Kai and back around Diamond head. I always thought that would make the killer Isle of Man style track. | ||

Should have done what we call the IRON BUTT run. Start at H3 K-Bay lookout, Kamehameha Hwy to North Shore, North Shore H3 to H1 Sandy Beach, Waimanalo. You would love the new H3! Tatsu | ||

I have driven the H-3 alot. Was there when it opened. But at the time HPD loved to camp on it. | ||

Me, Home Depot and by the Zinc plated machine bolts. If you bring a few of the bolts in question they should have a stand there where you can see what size they are by testing them. It's saved me lots of headaches. | ||

At Home Depot, they also sell stainless bolts. These should provide better rust protection than zinc plated bolts. | ||
