Pissed...

I have an XB12S with a stock pipe on her (for now). There was an upslant in a parking lot today, and I had a passenger on the back of my bike....as I went up the incline I felt like the rear suspension had bottomed out...I check under my bike, sure enough, I scraped the bottom of my pipe, left a little dent in the bottom and a scrape!

Im getting the Drummer anyway...BUT....is there anything else I should check that could have been bent out of place? I see that the exhaust is connected by 2 screwn right into the engine case...could I have bent them or bent the case? Im not worried about the pipe, just the more expensive stuff that also could have bent..

Jack

I think that's a reasonably common occurrence...

It hasn't happened to mine yet but I've heard about it from a couple other people.

There's no way in hell you bent the case. The exhaust and/or brackets for it would go LONG before the case.

I doubt you did anything other than what you described by way of damage.

Dont worry I smashed the whole front of my muffler last summer. Was riding with a small group and the road split to the left. Two guys crossed and I had to wait for traffic,I kept rolling to stay moving and made the left a little late. As I crossed the center of the raod I noticed the road dropped off about a foot and a half. I had no choice but to jump it. Revved her up, fanned the clutch and off I went. I wheelied and landed rear first but when the front came down it landed pretty hard. I flattened the first 7-8 inches of my muffler. No broken clamps or straps, must say something for quality.

Holy hard landing batman!

Happy you and the beast made it through OK! Hope I never have to do that! It may involve fecal spotting...

Once I was talking to Buckinfubba when they first started to offer the Drummer. He said there weren't too many mufflers they got in that didn't have a dent.
