What are you guys doing for fuel control on your XBs?

It seems to me that this is the primary limiting factor in finding more power with the new platform. We've got Nallin for headwork and big bore stuff, and now Redshift is making cams for the XBs, but no one is doing anything about fuel control. I called Dynojet earlier this week to see about getting a power commander for the XBs and they told me they weren't going to make anything else for the Buells.

What gives? Is the DDFI that much more complicated than everything else out there? Dynojet makes power commanders for nearly every other model bike on the planet, it seems like there should be at least one that can be adapted to work on the XBs.

I've heard you can get away with using a PCIII from an X1 or an S3, but I don't know anyone who is running one on an XB. Has anyone tried this? Any problems?

the pcIII works great..
techlusion is 'working' on a box. but I've heard that for at least a year

I dont think anyone uses an x1 map tho.
Nallin ships the PCIII with one of the maps they made.

For those of you running the tuber PCIII, are you using the power commander O2 sensor to go with it? Is there anything extra required to make an X1 power commander work on an XB or is it 'plug and play'? Also, I've noticed that in the Drag Specialties catalog there are different part numbers for the X1 PCIII and the S3 PCIII. What's the difference?

Does anyone know what's going on inside the power commander? From what I know, it's a piggyback system, meaning it works inline with the stock ECM and simply alters the signal either to the ECM or from the ECM to the injectors. It runs off of a fixed map using a few input variables. It seems to me that the software/hardware required to do this would be similar from bike to bike, and we could find a power commander for another bike that could be adapted to work on our Buells.

It sure would be nice to get the extra control of the IIIr and the USB versions of the power commander.

A few new FI control boxes just came out for motorcycles, but so far nothing for Buells.

Cobra makes a really nice unit too. I called them, but they don`t make a model for Buells either.

The PCIII for X1's is a plug and play for the XB's. The drawback is the "Box" area of the fuelmap. The PCIII can not make adjustments to that area. It only effects anything outside the box. That means from 3500 and up. It helps with aftermarket components like a pipe or possibly the 1050 bigbore for a 9 or the 1250 bigbore for a 12 but not sure from my research if its worth the money for a mostly stock engine. I am also wondering if having not only the ability to adjust the fuel but also being able to adjust the timing to go along with the additional fuel is what would be better. That is after talking to a few shops that install PCIII's of various bikes. Usually for the IL4's the H-D's that go to PCIII's have some sort of timing adjustment to get the timing to go with the fuel changes.
