I just put a Buell race exhaust on my 09 XB12SS. She sounds better than I thought she would. Will I need to do any tuning, or will I be OK to run the bike like it is?

No other mods. Just removed the stock exhaust and then put the Buell race can in its place. The bike seems to be running just fine. Will the stock computer be able to compensate for changing to this exhaust?

It'll run ok, but if you really want to take advantage of the pipe, get the race ecm from E.B.R and the K&N, that will really wake the bike up.

I did leave the servo hooked up. I also left the cable on the servo. I just zip tied the cable out of the way so it wouldn't interfere or get caught on anything. Is this ok to do?

Having the correct tune on the ECM will make a bigger difference than the pipe itself. Also, once you put on a Race ECM you can remove the servo actuator, but I recommend you leave the cable going from the airbox to the muffler as its a pain in the ass to reinstall if you ever go back to stock.

Designed by Screaming Eagle, sold by Buell, I doubt anyone will be able to build any more, although, stranger things have happened.

Hey Lonestar, it wasn't me. I bought this off of another inmate on here back in December. I just now got around to putting it on.

Unbeknownst to me until this past fall, for the past 4 years I have run my XB9 with a race exhaust, stock air filter, and stock ECU maps. It was perfectly usable, never fouled a plug, and never over-heated. It did run a little lean, which was evident in the running heat, but not so bad that it damaged the bike. But, just for giggles, I installed a Pro-Series air filter and loaded the race maps this winter. I am hoping for a whole new bike this spring.

What's the Servo Actuator? I'm thinking of going back to stock, what do I look for to see if this is installed, I bought the bike used with a race muffler and what I think is a race ecm and it has a K&N air filter. }

But, just for giggles,
You'll notice a cleaner acceleration and more giggles per gallon...

What's the Servo Actuator?

It is a servo that is mounted on top of the airbox on XB12 models, it pulls a cable that opens the valve inside the stock XB12 muffler to reroute exhaust flow.

Ran the bike twice this weekend. The first time was a bust because I buttoned everything back together and left a rag in the intake. Tell you what, The darn thing would barely run at all!! After I fixed that issue, I ran it again. The acceleration is definitely "cleaner." The torque curve is WAY smoother (the 3K RPM hole is gone!!!). It isn't the arm dislocating acceleration I was hoping for, but is a definite improvement.

Hmmm. I bought my 2003 Buell XB9r used, and it has the race muffler installed. How can I tell if the ECM is correct?

Sorry, I'm kind of a noob when it comes to bikes...

The ECM may have stamped on the side "FOR RACE USE ONLY" take a peek.
however..
Some had this, and some didn't.
check the code numbers on the ECM..

Does anyone else have the Pipercross air filter combined with the race muffler and associated ECM? I swear by it and think it's superior to the K&N IMHO.
