I’ve got a couple of questions.

By adding the Revolution Performance 1050cc bolt-in kit to an XB9s.
Would it be sensible to upgrade the "cams" and "pushrods" at the same time?

The mech. guy, who’s been looking at the bike, said that without spending too much (complete rebuild) that by upgrading these would also increase the potential of the bike.

If this is also tru, what "cams""pushrods" would be most suited to compliment the 1050cc kit.
Torque range ... etc..

Any help would be appreciated.

i too have the 1050 kit to be installed soon... however i want the bike kept as streetable as possible, and therefor have no interest in changing cams, but i asked about changing pushrods and lifters. Was told if the cams don't change, no need to change the other items.... on the other hand cleaning up the heads i've heard would be a worthwhile endeavor..... fwiw

Changing cams is ALWAYS a trade-off. More high end at the cost of low end. Higher performance at the cost of idle. HP for Torque. Etc.

On a daily driven bike, I would not go far from stock, which then makes me wonder if making just a slight change is even worth it. Personally I wouldn't.

As stated above, a good Port and polish job will help without any side effects, and cost would most likely be similar to new cams/pushrods/lifters.

I agree with Whitetrash.

Brian Nallin of Revolution Performance once advised me that for hot rodding an XB9 for street use that the existing cams are great. He said they are the same cams used in the 1200cc engines, which ought to tell us something. He did recommend hotter cams if you wanted to hot rod a 1200cc engine.

Mike, you can get higher lift cams that are designed for BIG low and mid-range too. performance cams don't necessarily mean top end tuning only. I have a set of CM580's on the Cyclone and they poop out at the top end, but boy are they good down low and in the mid-range. Perfect for me. : )

Briz, the headwork would also be my first choice after the 1050 kit.

The tuning may be critical in the end.
