Hi guys, have a question for you all.
The earlier XB's had a snorkle that you removed to allow more air into the airbox.
Does the later model bikes have the same setup?
How do you allow more air into the Airbox?
Does the airscoop perform the same way?
(seen a photo of it covered, do you cut this open to utilize the air scoop?)
Thanks guys.

Briz31,
The Buell XB19r 2009 is already breathing pretty good in the intake department. It already has years of refinement in that area. If you want to unleash the beast, consider mods that will negate some of the EPA crap. Due to EPA restrictions on production motorcycles, there is a bottleneck there. The short list in no particular order is;
1. E-B-R- race ECM.
2. Muffler. I recommend Special O.P.S. Odie is a site supporter and I have been using his can for years. It's got just the right sound without being too loud and really unleashes the beast, as you put it. Quality kit dude.
3. Breather vent re-route. Many threads here on this mod. Most swear by it. I have not done it. I find the factory solution to be nice and tidy.
4. Suspension tuning. Read the book, then set the suspension. It's easy, free and very rewarding.
5. Track day. Most riders are not capable of using the Buell to the extent it was designed. It's not all about WFO redline rippin. It's about handling, technique and Control. It is likely that his hunnert horse Buell can whip ass on a 150 horse kawasukiducaRR if he can learn to ride the damned thing. The learning is very rewarding!
The first time I drug a peg on my current Buell, I had to tell everybody! Not only that, on several occasions I grabbed my bike and leaned it over till the peg touched the ground to show them. It IS impressive!

How come your bud don't type to us?
Dan.

The snorkle you refer to was only on the '03 bikes, it has the hole through the frame in which the snorkle was piped.

The '04-'06's did not have the snorkle or the air box cover cut out.

The '07+ bikes have a pretty free flowing airbox.

But if you want to really get more air in consider this -> Open Airbox mod and this ->CF air box with CIA Vents from Americansportbike.com.

thats what I thought because it was there for EPA reasons so if it is a bike with he hole in the frame it had it. If you don't have the hole in the frame it does not have it.

We www.twinmotorcycles.nl have exhaust and tunes that match 200% for a good riding bike

look here: http://www.twinmotorcycles.nl/webshop/artikel.asp? guid=YXHFSC&aid=3077&cid=110&s=&a=

We have tested a lot of airbox designs and setups, the best buck for the money is the K&N filter, with drilled holes on the top and right side of the airbox.

our Torque Hammer exhaust with a 200% matching fuelmap.

Just a correction for above, 03-05 models had the hole in the frame, 06+ did not.

It definitely makes installing a turbo on a Buell much easier!

Fast you are correct. The original bike was to be turbo... HD said nope. frames were made and ready. Over time the space was filled in to hold more fuel since the turbo plan was busted by the fools at HD.

The Torque Hammer exhaust from www.twinmotorcycles.nl sounds good. I agree American currency is better, especially since it turns out to be $817.88 US. That's not even counting shipping.
You realize its just a muffler.
