This may be another dumb question , but , I have read threads (or misread) of guys running Wide Band O2 Sensors on their bikes while using an AFR meter .

They are just for testing & tuning , right ?
You cant run one all the time can you ?
Will the ECM run a Wide Band O2 sensor ?

You can not effectively tune outside of closed loop with a NB sensor.

Yes you can run the WB sensor all the time.

The ECM will not accept the WB signal but most controllers have the NB output option.

Would it be a benefit to run one all the time ?

It won't hurt to run it all the time. I've been using a PLX Devices setup for 6+ months I guess. Ballpark cost was under $600 and I can move it to another bike without a lot of difficulty. I'll probably use this same setup on an XB12 later this year for tuning if I have the bike that long.

I'm also using the stock O2 sensor bungs on the 1125, guys told me it would be too hot there, but the operating range is up to 1500 degrees I think, maybe higher. The sensors are Bosch units, LSU-4.2's I think.

The PLX stuff is pretty cool, you can chain up to 32 devices to monitor a whole bunch of stuff. EGT, rpm, wideband, etc. It gets expensive if you do a lot, but for this, it wasn't too bad, I'm pretty sure I spent under $600 to get it.

Kdog you can do a good WB setup for around $300 if you shop on flea-bay. The 14Point7 controller does not need to be calibrated and has USB interface unlike the Innovate LC-1.

14Point7 WB O2 Controller - $160
Bosch WB O2 17014 - $50-60
AFR Gauge - $70-80

Mine is a dual wideband, so that's why it was a little more than the innovate lc-1. The display unit on mine also does data logging.

The PLX can also monitor fluid temps, exhaust gas temps, oil pressure, air intake temps and an intake pressure sensor. But I don't know where you would mount all the interface modules!

Yeah, just the 2 boxes I have fill the tail section and don't leave a lot of room. You could put some up front for testing, but the real drawback is that none of it is waterproof.
