Anyone see this?

Yamaha MT-01, air-cooled 1700 cc "torque sports roadster."
An XB1350 doesn't seem so special anymore. : (

http://www.mt-01.com
http://www.motorcycledaily.com/14july04_yami_mt01.htm

Avail only in Europe in 2005.

MCS already had a supposed spy shot of a new HD roadster...

Cafe racer style, with the VROD motor in it.

Any truth to that one?
If so, Buell's in big trouble...

If so, Buell's in big trouble...

Why? Buell's are centered around the racing effort of the XBR's. The XBS's are simply an ergonomically friendly derivative of the basic design.

I highly doubt that any sporting bike with a V-Rod engine will appeal to anyone other than those of us that want a machine for stylin' and profilin'.

Dealer i bought my 9xbr from said he had to sell his allocation before end of june or pre-register them as they dont meet the european emissions laws. Thought then that 9's were unlikely for 05

That Yamaha MT-01 is cool. Does anyone know who makes the windshield in that 12S picture above??? Thanks.

Beast - why would the 9's not meet the Euro emissions standards while the 12's apparently do? Doesn't make sense to me. Would a 12 airbox cover change any of that?

I used a tall duce windshield & made the bracket myself.

I like it! Nothing radical, but cool. Brush guards, dirt bike bars, a very interesting bikes.

They really had my hopes up with the intro page, I thought for sure they were building a 9S built dual sport, I could hear my wallet yelp!

The cityx looks very cool as well though... I like it's "attitude".

No 9's listed on european sites just the 12 and the x, just like we dont have the blast here. so just a new 12s city
for us then.

I thinhk the X bike will grab some new customers for Buell . . . . . held the line on prices, as well (from what little I've seen)

should be a good year for them

Oh well, neither Buell nor Harley came up with anything worth my making a move for this year. Then again, there are some parts that may retrofit to my X1 that could increase my satisfaction with it.

Bomber...No way. Then again I outgrew Sporties back in the late 60's. LOL

Actually, I do like the CityX and have a feeling it won't be too long before they announce a XB12 version of it. Then again, if they stock enough supermoto bars, we can just do the conversion ourselves.

The accessories are really good. Liked the passenger perch (I don't think I can say Bitch Pad on the BWB) for the XBR. Am a little confused why they don't offer a more passenger friendly saddle for the XBS's.

I think in the accessory line the area I was surprised they really overlooked was the soft luggage. I thought that with all the "begging" for a sport touring bike they would have conceded in this area.

Lastly, I am pleased to see substitutes for the Amber wheels. Some liked the color, some didn't. Looks like now there is an alternative.

Regardless, I still feel Buell did a fine job expanding the line this year. Especially when you consider the major investments they have made since introducing the XB series.

Kudo's to Erik for a fine presentation!!!

yeah, the videos of ERik and others were very well done . . . . a black on black on black XB12S is very tempting (new bike/tuition -- new bike, sleeping on the couch/tuition ;-} )

I think the 9 with the buzzard bars and such will be a big hit in Europe! and imagine the led and neon possibilities for some of our riding brethern with that seethru bodywork . . . .

Remember this from a July 5 posting?

My Buell salesguy (who rides a race-kitted XB9S) says Buell will intro some kind of super-motard model for '05. I scratched my head at his comment but he's pretty sure something in that vicinity is coming.

So, the information was available to some dealers, but secrecy was definitely more under control this year.
