Could someone please tell me what year XB regulators interchange with each other?

I'm pretty sure all XB regulators are the same by year, but do they interchange between years?

I have an '08 XB12X, and need to know if a regulator from an '06 XB12R will work on my bike.

Far as I know there was never a change in the regulators.

Thanks for the reply, Cataract.

Correction: The VR in question is from a '05 XB9R.

Are the connections the same? No difference from the three phase (pre '08) vs single phase ('08 and up)?

The newer regulators, 08 and up are single phase and will not work on 07 and earlier three phase systems.
If your plan is to try the 05 regulator, it will not work.

I made the same mistake, only in reverse. I needed a regulator for an '04 12R and bought a used one from an '08.....didn't fit.

I still have the good used '08 if you might be interested.
