Best mode is the 1280x720 60p which means the 960 might be the best choice (pretty sure it offers 720 60p). The Drift HD camera looks pretty nice too but I haven't used it.

I've been wanting one of these to, i don't really have any use for it, just think they are cool (i mean none of the roads i have are anything fun to re-watch or show off, and everything is flat....) but there was a thread about them on buellxb the other day, i think i remember somebody saying that the 1080 is good if you want a higher definition video or pictures, such as something you'd put onto DVD and watch at home, other words if you are just going to put it up on youtube the 960 would do fine, due to the fact youtube makes most videos you upload "less than great quality" anyway

The fish eye of the wide angle lens bothers me, the closer to the camera, the worse the fish eye gets.
These were done on a GoProHD, but it was set to low resolution to save some space, won't set low again.
My vids are here

If I was to start from nothing I think the Drift HD would be the one to buy.

Also note that all of the cameras really suck when the front isolator starts to die and the motor shakes everything as badly as mine is doing. And my isolator is not completely toast. One more project for the warmer weather and then to try a few different mounts for the camera. The GoPro is capable of very high quality images when everything is right. It really needs nice bright blue skies and normal summer foliage. Get it in the winter with snow and gray skies and the colors all wash out and everything turns gray. Most of this is from lack of exposure control which both the Drift and Contour offer. If the Contour 1080 has the lens issue fixed then it would also be a decent choice.

Also consider how good the standard definition Drift looks, I would expect the HD to look as good or better.

I've been contimplating getting a GoPro for some time now myself. They seem to be one of the best units on the market, but I haven't been able to take the plunge and purchase one. They seem pretty versatile and have tons of accessories an mounting possibilities.

What other units/manufacturers are you considering, if any?

Check with drift x170 this helmet cam has a lcd screen so you can review video right on the device, and delete it if it's not what you wanted, the go pro and any other device does not allow you to do this, also the drift has a remote comes with mount for helmet you can buy a universal suction cup mount to use to mount to the bike,i own one of the non hd ones and I love it go to helmetcameracentral.com they should have full reviews of both and then a comparison review of both together side by side.

Check webbikeworld for their thoughts on the HD version of the Drift camera. The only thing I don't like about the Contour HD is that they had a batch with the lens assembled wrong or poor quality lenses, and they didn't really exchange them when people complained. If they fixed that issue for good, the camera offers some manual features that none of the others offer.

The wireless remote for the Drift is a very good idea and something the others really need.
