Yeah , those American Sport Bike ones are cool , but pricey . I have seen those on a Buell and they do fit real nice . You get what you pay for , I guess . I wonder how you wire them up ? Anybody have one ? | ||

I've got Blue / Red. I'd recommend Green / Amber / Red. The blue is easy to confuse with high beam. I need to check but I think it comes with at 10 year guarantee. It is used on race cars all over the world. (Message edited by PeteBueller on December 16, 2010) | ||

There is a straight version (so not the curved) that works on the M2. You can get the pulse from almost anything except a magneto. 1999 you have electronic tacho so it is easy. It will work from the coil as well. | ||

Three wires to connect up - ignition, earth and tacho. The wires run up under the fairing or flyscreen and then the unit sticks to the dash with double sided tape. I've had mine on for about 3 years. wow that looks perfect on there any idea how it handles getting wet? as in if I mount it on my lightning will it hold up riding in a storm? (you know, in case I go to homecoming again  ) | ||

The device is neat but it's the guy who's a genius. He has a degree in automotive engineering, a PhD in electronics, and he's a total perfectionist. He told me he sells 90 of these a month. I've had mine for 3 years and while I don't know how long he's been making them I know it was at least a year before I got mine. That's a lot of units, and with those he has had 1 failure. It was a faulty IC and he picked that up when he tested it before packaging. As for the device, it is clever. This is the user guide http://www.ecliptech.com.au/index.php?option=com_c ontent&view=article&id=71&Itemid=70 He packs a lot of configuration into two buttons. You can use it to test your battery and charging system - which it does when you switch on and start-up. I have mine configured for track day shifts at the upper limit and as a speed alert at the lower limits. When I get the first light on I know I'm doing the speed limit of 100kph in 5th, 80kph in 4th and 60kph in 3rd. Second light on and know I'm risking an infringement. It has auto-dimming for day. night, strong sunlight, etc that works so well you don't even know its doing it. If it didn't have this you would really know it. I like the dot display mode but he 10 different configurations for personal taste. I said above that I'd recommend Green / Amber / Red but that depends on taste. Some friends also have the Blue / Red and prefer that. The issue I've had with blue is that with high beam on at night it clouds my use as a speed alert. | ||

The progressive one does a lot more than the single Raptor light, and only costs $50 more. http://www.americansportbike.com/shoponline/ccp0-p rodshow/16122.html I guess it depends if you simply want the least distraction or the most information. The raptor being "SHIFT NOW" The progressive being several things from "SHIFT NOW" to "getting close... shift" to daily driver of "hey my battery is going too low during crank" or "hey my regulator just blew chunks and I'm running at 20 volts" For the extra $50 I'd rather have the option of more info and be able to turn it off than to be limited to the single indicator. If I ever get onto the track with my 9R I'll get the one that Pete is using. | ||

All I can say is darn you guys!!!  I thought I was done buying goodies but you have me hooked in the idea of this shift light, my SO (signifficant other or superior officer, read it how you want it's the same thing ) is going to start coming after you guys if you keep spending my money for me lol But with a volt meter and a shift light it's a great peace of mind for me, I'm always worried about crapping my regulator And the Getting close..... Closer............ SHIFT!!!!! Is just what I want When I am tucked in I loose the gauges to my helmet chin bar, the led's will be perfect, and if it auto-dims too, happy dance time If I can't kill it in the rain and will be fixed if ever I do then the extra money is more than worth it. And if it will tell me I'm going a little over the limit when I am enjoying the ride instead of watching my speed it will be great Darn you guys!!! | ||

Thats my problem also Delta_one , when I'm tucked down , going through the gears , I am looking at the tach and not the road , trying to shift at max rpm , going down the road at wide open throttle , blind !  | ||

I am looking at the road and trying to listen but sometimes I get distracted by a corner, or another rider, or the road, or even the just big silly grin I get when I swat it open on my bike (you know what I am talking about, the sound the feel the adrenaline, a motorcycle is a powerful drug), and end up missing a shift. | ||

A friend did the installation guide for a Lightning. This is a picture of it on his bike.  On some track days I've forgotten I had it for the first couple of laps and ended up hitting the rev limiter in 3rd. When I use it it makes a difference of close to 10kph to my speed at the end of the main straight. I like having the lights tell me how far to go. I've never tried a single light type, but I could imagine that if I had only one light I'd be concentrating on waiting for the light and not on riding. |
