Dude! Wheres my brake light!

He is going Cecil on us ; )

A brake light bulb is constant current for a fixed voltage, and unless your voltage regulator is dead or dying, or you wired your sparkplugs into your battery, there should be no way a defect on the bike would cause brake lights to blow. Fuses maybe, but bulbs, no.

Did you have the right replacement bulb? Is it suffering mechanical damage of some sort? Did the replacement bulb ever work at all?

The internal filiments of most modern bulbs are similiar, but the contacts on the bulb socket can and do vary, as does the requirement for the mechanical strength of the element. You could have blown a fuse by forcing in the wrong bulb base, or the bulb from the honda might have been old and fragile anyway.

go to the regular auto parts store or safeway or whatever retail out fit is near you and fetch yourself an 1157 automotive bulb. that is not the heavy duty bulb but will work for you.

"went up to the auto shop were my boy works (on my bicycle) ... got pulled over AGAIN for not wearing a helmet "

According to http://www.gwrra.org/helmetlaws.html there is no adult helmet bicycle law in North Dakota. Same chart here http://www.smf.org/helmet_law_facts_2003.html

Similar info here http://usff.com/hldl/hlstatutes/ndakotahl.html linked to from here http://www.northdakota.info/3CYCLE.HTM

You haven't been fermenting that lemon juice, have you? ; )

420... I moved your last post, it was completely inappropriate. Please find another forum other then badweatherbikers.com for general anti-law enforcement rants, most sportbike forums would be happy to have them.

>find a reason to rap the throttle nice n loud

Hopefully they'll find you in violation of the local sound ordinances and ticket you for that as well.

I'd say you've gotten off easy so far, but obviously don't deserve the polite treatment.

Yep, life on-base is different than life off-base. Had some friends who were in the army who lived off-base for a variety of reasons.
Their house, their rules.

This dude is fatal. MSF says that if you have a lot of accidents in a car (or get stopped on a bicycle) that maybe motorcycling isn't for you.

420,
Take a chill pill! It is just a light bulb that needs replaced.
Don't self destruct and all that over a bulb.

I was unable to read any of 420's posts and I usually get a chuckle at reading about him telling us about every little activity that he does, but I have a feeling I had the same problem on Monday night. I got pulled over for having a burnt out tail light, which I was unaware of. The other day, my license fell out of my pocket while riding, so I had to give her a state id. She ran my license number and then tried to tell me that I did not have a motorcycle id (which I do!!!). She not only gave me a ticket for not carrying my license, but also for not pocessing a motorcycle license! Now I have to go to the prosecuting attorney and hopefully get the charges dismissed. On top of everything else, she stopped me in my apartment complex parking lot, and woke up all of my neighbors and made a scene. Welcome to life in Kansas!

Al from American Sport Bike had an issue this past weekend with his XBS. A wire up front in the main harness appears to be broken. You wiggle the wire & the entire electrical system would die. No obvious cuts or breaks that we could see tho.

Luckily he didnt have to ride the bike home to Cali.

I think that issue may have already reared its head, something about an extraneous extra wire that rubs and chafes until it shorts. It's used on the export models and lies loose on the domestic models, right up near the headlight area.

Ah, here it is...

Nope Blake not the horn wire rearing its head.My 12 had that problem. But on Al's bike that was not the problem.

Definitely not the horn wire as Dana said. This wire is actually inside the main harness. Roger was more than willing to get out the snips & start hacking into Al's bike, but Al decided it could wait until he got it home. Had a trailer anyways.
