I can't get over what a difference this made to the bike. It's...well...perfect! At the 1000 mile checkup today, put Mobil-1 V-Twin Synthetic 20W50 in the engine, Mobil-1 75W90 Synthetic in the crankcase, shifts smooth as silk now and the fan isn't coming on as often after a hard ride...lower temps.

I installed the race ECM, 12 airbox and K&N last night and had the dealer install the race muffler as part of the service.

I know others have been riding longer and have their baselines set differently than I, but I have to tell you that this is the perfect combination as far as I am concerned.

I was stopped 3 times today with people asking me what kind of bike it was -- that never used to happen! ; ) It's very cool. I'm just going to print up cards.... "This is a buell. It's the only American sport bike...fuel in the frame...oil in the swing..." ; )

BTW, California Harley-Davidson is really a first-class operation. They got me in and out on time and their Buell tech Josh did a great job; his attention to detail included asking me about things I wanted him to look at and he was very thorough.

I took them 4 six-packs of ale for their trouble...

At any rate, I'm babbling like a kid @ Christmas.

I love my bike!

It's in Harbor City -- near Torrance in the South Bay. A little far from Bakersfield, but I've been to 3 dealerships and they are the best I have found thus far.

See http://www.californiaharleydavidson.com/

Josh is the Buell tech who worked on my bike and Michael S. was the service manager. All very cool and definitely Buell friendly.

They had 3 other XB's in for service, an X1 in the back and myself and another 12 in for service today...

Of course, your mileage may vary, but I am *very* pleased.

I sold a Buell Lightning today...Dude pulled up next to me and said: "That's the bike I want." "Where do I get one?" I followed him a quarter mile to the dealership and he paid cash for a red 12s..I bought some metal polish and a hamburger.

Thanks Bark I'll keep them in mind if I get unhappy with Lancaster HD. BTW have you tried Glenndale? I have not but I've heard their name a lot.

Bear...

A couple of people also recommended Glendale, but Cal HD is 10 minutes from my house...the only reason I didn't buy my bike there is that the salesman could not get hold of a 9 -- or they didn't want to sell me one -- only 12's.

I'm going to go check out Glendale for giggles, so I'll let you know what I find.

Chris-

First of all congratulations on your bike, I’ve bought my last three Buells at Cal HD/Buell. I’ve been riding buells for over three years and will vouch for Glendale as the best HD/Buell dealer in the greater Los Angeles area. I ride over 20K miles a year, and purchased prepaid service through CAL HD since I don’t have time or skill to work on my own bike. Anyhow im at CAL/HD every month practically for maintence and it’s only a matter of time before you will realize what the majority of Buell owners experience at HD dealerships when they go in for service. I know a lot of the service guys their and have had many experiences with the service manager. I’m not trying to burst your bubble, but more just a little heads up. There’s only a handful of Buell dealerships you can call a "first-class operation"
Cal/HD is'nt one.

V --

Thanks for the feedback. It's all relative but compared to the other dealerships I've been too for service, Cal HD *is* first-class.

They treated me and my bike with respect, did what they said they were going to do, and the bike turned out way beyond expectations.

Yes, it was a simple endeavour, and yes I am probably over excited, but what is important is that I would trust them with my bike again.

All they can do is lose my business...

I am sure that any dealer is capable of f'ing up a bike, but at least Cal HD accomodated my requests and did it for less than they quoted.

I hope your experiences aren't for the worse...

Thanks,

Chris

Did they remove the snorkel!?

No, they didn't...I did when I installed the ECM, K&N and 12 airbox. ; )

I think it sucked a small farm animal into the intake on my way to work today. Jesus, that snorkel was SUCH a restriction!
