try a baker 6-speed sportster tranny. it'd be easeir to swap the whole 1125 rotax motor than just the tranny

Assuming you found a belt with the right number of teeth, it would just be a matter of getting an 1125 pulley of your choice, then a proper tensioner.

The Baker 6 speed does not work on the XB motors.

Does the 1125 have a different rear sprocket with a different number of teeth than an XB? I'm not sure, never looked into it.

The Baker works only on the Sportster based engines with a trap door, meaning tube frame Buells. My understanding is that internally the bikes are different too, so its not like you could split the cases and drop it in.

At $2500 you might be better off buying q crashed 1125 and making a whole bunch of new mounts.

then you have to figure out where youre putting the radiators

at that point, you might as well have just kept the 1125 and just rode that around

I did say crashed 1125, implying not able to be returned to the road.

I'm debating buying a crashed one to fix up, and maybe swapping parts back and forth between the firebolt and whatever I find.

I seem to find a new look I want to pursue on an almost weekly basis.

None of the XBs have a trap door.
The confusion about it working on an 03 is because of the last of the Tubers, the 02 X1.

According to the Baker website it works on '03s. I know the Sporty lost the trap door in '04. I don't know the history of the XB trans. Was this another example of something done by Buell only to be later added to the Sporty mill?

Personally I've always been slightly disappointed that Buell didn't just design their own trans to stuff in the XB. It would be so nice to have a 6 speed that shifts like a modern sport bike. I bet there's an infuriating story behind why that never happened though.

That's the explanation I got from Baker back when I bought my bike.
Since you could buy a new 02 in 03...
I didn't get it either, I would have thought they would have changed their website, rather than having to tell all the 03 XB9 owners it don't work without a trap door...
