Just thought I would throw this out there. I changed the motor and primary oil on the wifes 09 XB12R last night after she finally hit 1000 miles. And let me tell you, there is no more "clunk" when it shifts and she feels much smoother throughout the RPM range. I am sure other full synthetics have similar results...but this is was night and day from whatever sludge HD puts in it.   | ||

I finally tried Amsoil in the primary on the last oil change, just over 1,000 miles ago. Seems to work fine, but I still get a clunk when it goes into gear. Never had any real clunk when shifting between gears though. It also never has been as smooth as just about any other modern bike trans, and Amsoil isn't going to fix that. All the local dealers have made it clear to me that they don't want to sell Buell maintenance parts, so I'm happy to not buy their oil either. I'll probably stick with the Amsoil even though the biggest difference I notice is that I'm not having to walk into an HD dealer. | ||

This is purely anecdotal evidence, but my coworkers BMW RT improved dramatically with the addition of amsoil in the gearbox and engine. So much so that I'll be throwing it in my STT when I get it. His transmission used to make a clunk that was audible from anywhere in the parking lot. After the oil change it was silent and very clearly didn't require the effort that it previously had to engage. His comments were very positive, and I certainly trust his opinion. I run Amsoil and while results mat vary, my EVO X absolutely loves it and the XB12R has had it as the previous owner ran it as well. Good stuff | ||

Your cooling fan will run less when you shut down the bike. All because the friction is less and the operating temps are posatively affected. Go Amsoil | ||

i used to run Amsoil while i was living back in Wisconsin, but after moving to the rock out here in the middle of the pacific its a little harder to come by, but as soon as i get back to the mainland, its getting Amsoil again, i could tell a difference when i switched to the Harley synthetic | ||

20w-50 amsoil in the motor and tranny. I didn't tell the wife I made the switch. After our first stop she's like "hey something feels different"...good on her for noticing. | ||

 Yep, I'm a BIG fan of the product. We sent an oil sample into an independant lab last year after 500 miles of racing. The oil analysis proved that the used AMSOIL 20W-50 tested out better than new conventional oil! I now run it in everything including my lawnmower. | ||

What more proof could anyone want? I had my Amsoil 20W-50 tested by Blackstone Labs after 12 months and 688 track-only miles in an '08 XB12R, and it tested with a TBN the same as new oil. They recommended a fifteen month/10-12 track day interval for the next sample. Why guess when you can test? Oil analysis proved that Amsoil is every bit as good as they claim it is. I use it in every vehicle I own. | ||

Kind of surprised you guys don't drain the oil after every race or weekend just to see if there are extra shavings floating in it. | ||

Greg_e I only do that after a having the engine apart, break-in. After that, we're good to go. Our oil analysis has shown that changing AMSOIL that often is not necessary. If I were running conventional oil, maybe. Yes, it's hard to break old habits but the tests prove it. | ||

I've been using it since forever. By using it in my XB's engine and primary I only need to buy one oil. I just go on their website and order 2 or 3 cases and a dozen filters. It's awesome having it in stock right in the garage. | ||

I've been using Amsoil for about 20 years, they have several products besides motor oil that work well. | ||

I use it in the recipes that call for vegetable oil,the wife and kids can't taste the difference!!Doesn't stick to most cookware ether..  |
