All, thinking of putting on different bars. I actually don't mind the stockers, but right now I have them on 1" risers and find that my hands generally move to the edges of the grips so would like a little more width. Looking at Flanders' stock bar table, looks like the stock XB bars are about 4" high, 28" wide, and have 6" sweep. IIRC, the general rule of thumb for sweep is that you need/gain 1/2 the distance (for brake lines, etc.) when you change sweep. For example, the Daytona bars have 3" sweep, so I should gain about 1.5" of slack vs. stock bars (6"-3" = 3", divide by 2 = 1.5"). However, the Daytona's are also 1" longer (so .5" per side) and are 5.3" high. Since my bars on riser now, I'm thinking that the extra height/width of the Daytona's will be about 1", but with 3" less sweep I should gain a tad of slack overall - which means no changing brake lines, etc. Of course, if anyone has used them before... that would eliminate the need for my cocktail napkin math.

I need to look at Renthal and see if they have something similar - ideally I would like about 5" of height, 3" sweep, and 29" wide (or so). I previously had Bikemaster Superbike bars on my SV650 and really liked them, though I wanted to raise them a bit. They are 1" lower than our stock bars, but the rest of the dimensions match the Daytona's. One thing I like about BM bars - you can get them for 20 bucks or so, which takes a lot of the risk out of buying a nice aluminum bar. You can then figure out what you like, what works, and look for a premium bar later if desired.

PS Here's the link for Flanders stock bar table. Good resource for comparing the dimensions of your stock bars to other aftermarket options.http://www.sideroadcycles.com/AmericanMotorcycles/Handlebars/Stock_Bars.html
