This winter the Bolt is getting a top tree from a Lightning, and a new set of bars. Investigation reports that an S brake line, maybe an S clutch cable, the tree, bars and grips and I'm close. Anyone done this? Pics? Problems?

I have been wanting to do the same thing... I think the only problem you may run in to that I can tell is the ignition and how to mount it.

Exactly! I'm thinking of making something that gets screwed to the tree. Make a mounting bracket perhaps.

When I did mine I only needed to use a lightning brake line and reroute the clutch cable a little. The brake reservoir scraped the windscreen and the bars looked a little funky compared to the opening in the fairing though. I ended up switching back to the Firebolt bars.
I just got a superbar to try out but the brake reservoir won't clear the fork adjusters so I'll try them with a 1" riser when I get home in November.
It's not the lean over that bothers me, i's the angle of the stock bars. My right wrist gets sore really fast. The superbike bars are a little straighter than stock. If the were a couple inches wider everything would clear better, maybe even work without a riser. Anyone have a better suggestion?

What about drilling the stock triple to accept some short risers? Maybe make a cradle for the bars that sits right on top of the triple tree, and gets bolted to it. Hmmmm

There we go! An S tree, and a set of bars and grips. Thats my starting point. Cables and whatnot remain to be checked. If the master cylinder is a big problem, then I'll switch it to a radial with a remote res. I'll make a small bracket to house the Firebolt ignition switch. The Zero Gravity ST shield will help with the wind and the more upright position. Sweet. I have a plan....................

looks like a cool plan. my only question is were that thread it said you would have to use the st wind screen, Why would you have to use it and not be able to use the stock one?

You must use all the longer cables and brake-line,I also went with a hydraulic clutch,Brian

Which bars are those Brian? Your not far from me, is there any chance of sitting on your bike to see what the riding position is like?
