I would *love* to see the XB9 morphed into a competitor for the BMW GS... the GS ends up being a manageble trail bike, except the heads get hung up and the thing is just too big.

The XB9S however, could be just as small and just as narrow as a KLR 650. Just put the existing 9s 5 inches higher, all suspension travel, slap some on some skidplates and frame protectors, give it some high riding bolt on hard luggage, and give it dual sport tires. Could be a hell of an adventurer tourer.

Just put the existing 9s 5 inches higher

Which would make it virtually unrideable for me unless they can keep the seat height <31".

It sucks to be short.

What I'd like to see on the '05 models is a road debris eliminator. It would work by instantly vaporizing/eradicating miscellaneous trash on the roadway (like PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS) when they got within a 10-foot radius of the bike, thereby preventing said road debris from getting caught on the front brake line at 80mph in morning commuter traffic and melting against the nicely polished exhaust header and the front brake rotor and thus giving the front brake the lively feel of a piece of driftwood.

Other than that, my '04 is just about perfect.

Anonymous,

Are you going to announce the new models at the WSB races in Monterey in July? (If you are who I think you are: )

I think the XB is an almost perfect design for its intended purpose/market. IMHO all it needs is a 6 speed ( and we always want more power too!!!)
Said market will always be small tho sense it doesn't appeal to the squid/numbers crowd.
More bodywork colors would be great.
I think Buell needs to keep the XB but expand into other segments of the sport market with more models. I like every idea you guys have floated. The sport/touring bike would likely soon end up in my garage too.
Glitch that looks GOOD! I LIKE IT!
That vaporizor should be detachable and at least in the terawatt power range with select fire & range modes. I could have a LOT of fun with that.
Koz I'm 6'1" & I don't feel cramped at all but I've learned not to look at my reflection in windows. It's way too funny looking!

When I test drove a 03 XB9S I found my knees unable to get near the side of the bike because they kept hitting the pointy part of the frame. The 12R I tested made me feel like my head was as far forward if not farther then the windscreen. I really enjoyed the 12R though. It was Daves in Appleton with the race kit.

If they could build a "cellphone instant off" into that vaporizer, I think they could lease it out and make a fortune : )

A sport touring model would be cool. The temptation of a VFR is getting awfully strong since they started making it in black with hard bags.

What sauce would you like with that, Matt...

I think I'll have it baked into a nice humble pie : ) (but I still think we'll see some watercooling...)

koz5150, putting the 9/12s pegs on a 9/12r really help more than i thought they would for my knee clearance. i go 6'4" on a 9r and with the pegs i fir, not great, but i do fit.

i too NEVER look in a store windows reflection, my buddy's at work say i too look like a monkey ....ing a football on it, but it's fun, so who cares.

I too have the S pegs on a R and the custom seat increases seat to peg distance a little bit too.

My buddy's thought I looked like a big black bear with a unicycle stuck up his... ahem.

Sorry Fullpower, I have no info on that bike. There was only the picture without even a clue as to who owns it. The wheels look to be 17".
